From March 15, 2013 onwards, Microsoft will deactivate the global (except the mainland) Messenger service, users can only use a Microsoft account to log on to Skype, the address Book will be synchronized migration, you can still get the service with Messenger no difference.

After today, international users will not be able to sign in to Messenger. A notification and installer window will also appear when you try to log on, leading the user to install Skype and uninstall Messenger. Also, if you want to use Group video chat, then you need to subscribe to Skype Premium.

Users in mainland China who continue to use MSN are still able to communicate with their friends abroad, even if they use Skype. In addition, Microsoft has not yet determined the date of the closure of Taiwan's MSN.
