A Microsoft spokesman confirmed on September 18 that Microsoft plans to launch Silverlight 3 and Expression Studio 3 software design tools in September.
Silverlight 3 has more than 50 new features, including 3D, graphics processor acceleration, H.264 video support, and browser-based features added for Silverlight. Support outside the Browser allows developers to make apps compatible with Adobe's AIR plug-ins. This tool is expected to significantly improve the video performance and quality.
Microsoft is currently running the Silverlight 3 test version for developers and will release the final version in July 10. Silverlight 3 was expected to be launched by the end of this year. However, Microsoft sent an invitation to the media for the tool software release ceremony on June 14, May 28.
