MIT Leadership Course Notes: Former HP President Kelly-difficult choices

She has always liked the company culture of Kelly's early hp. After coming to office, this lady completely overturned the old HP culture, in the past, when chatting with employees in anjet China and HP China, everyone expressed their nostalgia for the past. This is just some personal feelings. I am not very clear about the background of the change. I need to know more about it before I can make a judgment, after finishing this course, I think that changes may play a vital role in the nirvana of an enterprise. Below are the notes for this leadership course:

  1. The most interesting and challenging part of business is people and all topics related to people.
  2. Two of the four courses that have the greatest impact on her are: Operational Research-learning system theory; Game Theory-quantum science. Quantifying people's affairs and emotions can lead to irrational choices; and organizational behavior; readings in power and responsibility-the most influential Course: What are people and how they behave.
  3. Enterprise values and organizational behaviors are the most essential elements of an enterprise.
  4. People are always people, no matter where you see this person.
  5. Career advice: Never sell your soul. No one will pay you back if the soul is sold out.
  6. Resistance to change is human nature. To make a change, we must understand human nature. We also need to be clear-minded realism to find the problem. Leadership is all about the change
  7. The basic responsibility of a leader is to anticipate the affairs and undertake the arduous task of transformation.
  8. Another important part of leadership is to see the potential and possibilities of others and the possibilities around you.
  9. Do not take the time to worry about the next job. Do the job well, be enthusiastic, take responsibility, and do the best. The opportunity will come back. The opportunity will be changed without fear of failure and risk.
  10. Customers and employees are all asked.
  11. Sales means to talk with each other well and summarize the essence of product value.
  12. The stock price is based on the lagging indicator. We value it too much. Customer satisfaction is a leading indicator and plays a precursor role. Innovation rate is a leading indicator. The diversity of enterprise employees is another leading indicator. Diversified employees mean a creative environment and an inclusive environment-different ideas and styles are welcomed.
  13. The value is the code of conduct when no one sees you and you think no one will discover you.
  14. Leadership is responsible for decision-making.
  15. When talking about others, a leader must have a strong guiding compass and the ability to draw itself out. Ask some basic questions: are our decision-making processes honest, prudent, and organized? Have you considered all the solutions? Are you sure you want to do the right thing in the right way with the maximum capacity and the right reason? Have you forgotten your judgment, morality, and opinions? These questions must be answered independently.
  16. Several methods to prevent errors in policies and execution: participate in decision-making in person without intuition. Pay attention to the people and things that disagree with each other. Don't be isolated. Don't just listen to what you hear. Set up an environment to let people know what you need and set an example. If you do not agree in person, do not disagree in the background. If it is wrong, you must acknowledge it.
  17. Do not be blinded by personal friendship or your past, and fully communicate with each other to gain trust.
