I. Purpose of the assessment
Interaction design is an iterative process, through the evaluation of interactive design, can be early detection of defects in the design, and further improve the interactive process. Through the evaluation, can also be found in the interactive design feasible, friendly, reasonable or excellent place, so as to provide reference for the subsequent product interaction design.
Ii. Criteria for evaluation
Mobile Phone product Interaction design evaluation criteria or whether to meet the user experience, of course, experience is a very virtual thing, without a specific quantitative criteria, then we fall in the implementation, from quantifiable dimensions. Specifically from those several dimensions, I think can be divided into the following several, see Figure 1:
Figure 1 Interactive Experience Assessment dimension
1, the product structure is clear
Whether it is nine format or the structure of the label page, you need to allow users to enter the product, you can know at a glance what the product is, there are several functional modules, how to switch between the modules.
At the same time, the product level is deeper, the designer wants to have a clear understanding to have the product to have how many level two page, how many level three page. The architecture of these level two and level three pages is to reuse the first level page, or to have their own architecture.
There are several assessment criteria:
Product structure is clear, there is no unnecessary level
Can quickly understand the product has several main pages
All major parts can be accessed through the homepage
Clearly indicates the current position.
2, the product process is clear
The simpler the presentation layer, the more complex the logic layer may be. So when we evaluate the process, we evaluate it not by the complexity of the logic layer behind it, but by the simplicity of the presentation layer. For example, a post process, a total of several steps, involving several levels (page to level two page to level three page ...). Of course, not that the less steps, the lower the level is a good design. But to be simple, clear, and clear. There is no irrelevant interference branch, there is no frequent misoperation, there is no room for thinking, no response after the doubt.
There are several assessment criteria:
Identify several major task processes for the product
Each task process is clear, not too many branches
Task process conforms to user operation process
The user can cancel the action being performed
There is clear feedback on the success or failure of the operation
At each level, you can find a way back to the previous level
Prevent errors, such as errors to help users recover from the error.
Whether complex interactions have good guidance and help
3, control use is accurate
Mobile phone products involve a lot of controls. First-level tabs, Level Two tabs, lists, buttons, dialog boxes, cue boxes, publishing boxes, and so on, these controls are used in place, is a measure of the design of a designer's ability to detail the important criteria. For example, two level two pages require a Level two tab bar, if you design two styles, then you do not use the idea of control to do design, not only designers to design two sets of two-level controls, programmers to repeat the work, users will wonder whether the two controls are the same meaning the same way of operation. For example, the two-level tab bar, whether its subordinate content in the style with his affiliation, this detail, if not grasp, the user is likely to the two-level tab bar as a button.
There are several assessment criteria:
Control uses accuracy (such as whether to confuse the Radio box and check box, too many dialog boxes, etc.)
Control reuse (for example, two pages use Tabbar, no design Two)
The state of the control (such as the non-point state, the point state, the pressed state, the long press State)
The exact use of link color
Accurate use of focus state
4, information communication is in place
Information transmission includes product Copy Guide, button copy design, list text layout, content page layout, reminder copy design and so on. Copywriting, some companies are specifically content editors to do, but most companies, are product managers or interactive designers directly completed. It is also an important criterion to measure the interaction design whether the copywriting is accurate or not, and it can communicate the meaning effectively. Text length restrictions, special case processing is considered in place, but also a benchmark for the work of the designer. The layout of the list text, and the typesetting of the content page, is the most important part of the information layout.
There are several assessment criteria:
Clear layout
Copy Concise
No terminology (such as "Pull failed" copy)
Reasonable typesetting (title, author, time of the font size, color, the use of margins)
Dependencies of labels and content (whether you can see the current tab, and the dependencies of the current tab page)
Iii. Methods of Evaluation
Interactive experience assessment has not a set of methods, the traditional evaluation is based on intuitive experience, then whether through the exploration of commonalities, to transform into a scientific and effective evaluation method?
The traditional methods are: experimental methods (random and repetitive testing), monitoring methods, survey methods and so on.
Scientific methods of Assessment:
1. Evaluation of design principles (Guidelines evaluation)
Write a design principle for your department or project, from the structure, process, control, content and other dimensions to construct a certain design requirements, a set of molding design principles were born, you can let the designer in the design process self-evaluation, can also allow designers to complete the design after the delivery of other designers for collaborative review.
2. Heuristic Evaluation (euristic evaluation)
Heuristic evaluation refers to a few evaluators who examine the interface and determine whether the interface conforms to the accepted principles of usability.
Specific methods see Jakob Nielsen wrote how to conduct a heuristic evaluation, Chinese translation see Beginner's mind do not forget how the translation of heuristic evaluation.
3. Usability testing (Usability testing)
Test the typical user performance of typical tasks, testing indicators, including the number of user errors, the time to complete the task. Typical usability testing is done in a lab environment, and the testers are closely controlled by the reviewers. Usability testing is primarily about quantifying user performance, and the results of tests are usually expressed as statistical values.
Specific methods see the usability test for small fat translators. The original English link has been hung up.
Iv. Results of the assessment
Can produce a detailed assessment report, respectively, on the four dimensions, interactive design of the bright spots and problems, highlight points, problems deducted points, and finally drawn into a honeycomb diagram, such as Figure 2. The addition of four dimensions adds up to 4 times 10 is the final total score.
Figure 2 Interactive experience Evaluation Results Honeycomb Chart
Finally, the experience is a very virtual thing, it is difficult to quantify the value, just as the emotion can not quantify the same. So this article aims to provide an objective point of thinking methods.
