Because the desktop default location is on the computer's system disk, it is possible to lose the data we keep on the desktop when our system encounters a problem or is reinstalled. Here is a brief description of how to modify the desktop path.
First, double-click the computer icon with the mouse, as shown in the picture

Second, find the system disk in the computer, click Open. In general, the C disk, as shown in the figure

Third, locate the user directory in the root directory of the system disk as shown in the figure
Note: The user directory includes the directory of all users on the computer, and under Windows XP is the Documents and Settings directory.

Five, then in our own account directory, select the "desktop" directory, click the right mouse button, select the "Properties" option, as shown in the picture

Eight, in the pop-up window to select the place where we want to move the desktop, here are moved to E disk under the "desktop" directory for example, as shown in the figure

Nine, select the new path to the desktop, click the "OK" button, as shown in the picture
Ten, then the system will prompt us whether to move the original desktop files to the new location, click the "Yes" button to continue, as shown in the picture

Xi. then wait for the system to move the desktop files, and then you can see all the contents of the desktop under the new path after completion.
