1.win2000 and Win9x/winme
Since the kernel used by Win2000 is different from the previous Win9x/winme, the upgrade operation is not possible, but Win2000 provides a good dual-system coexistence function. If you want to delete a system separately and save another system, it's not that simple, and the following will be described separately.
2. Deletion of Win2000 in multiple systems
Prepare a Win98 boot disk, and then execute the following command.
FDISK/MBR rewrite the hard drive master boot area.
SYS C: Transfer the WIN98 system files.
deltree c:winnt Deletes the Win2000 system file storage directory.
deltree c:boot*.* deletes all files starting with boot, and there are files for the multiple system boot menu.
deltree c:nt*.*? Deletes all files that start with NT.
deltree c:hiberfil.sys Delete the system settings disk file.
deltree c:pagefile.sys Delete the paging file.
You can delete the Win2000 after you complete the above operation.
3. Deletion of Win9x in multiple systems
First you must make sure that you start by default is Win2000 but not Win9x, if it is win9x need to modify its boot sequence. Click on "My Computer" under Win2000, open the "properties" in the right menu, select "Advanced" in "Green tea system characteristics", click "Start and Recovery" button, and in the next window you can modify the boot sequence, while also modifying the startup time. You can change the start time to 0 so that the Startup menu option does not appear when you start, but instead starts Win2000 directly.
Then delete the Win9x system directory, including the Windows and Program Files directory. If you are putting Win9x and Win2000 on the same partition, simply delete the Windows directory, because in this case the Program Files directory is common in Win2000 and Win9x. Then delete the Win9x boot files, including Io.sys, Msdos.sys, Command.com, Autoexec.bat, and Config.sys.
Once you've done that, you're back to Win2000 's single system. This method is also used for both WinME and Win2000 systems.
4.XP and Me
Q: My computer is installed with Windows Me and Windows XP dual system, I now want to uninstall D-Disk Windows XP system, how should I uninstall? is the format D disk?
A: Simply formatting D does not completely uninstall Windows XP. To completely uninstall Windows XP, you can directly remove Windows on D disk (the directory where you install Windows XP), program files, and the Documents and Settings folder (make sure the D disk is in FAT32 format, Otherwise, Windows Me cannot be accessed, must be converted to FAT32 format, and then the following files are deleted to the C disk: NTLDR, Ntdetect.com, boot.ini, Ntbootdd.sys (if you have a SCSI device) and Bootfont.bin, and finally booting the computer with the Windows Me boot CD, execute command: A:sys C: You can uninstall Windows XP completely.
