After upgrading the Gentoo sound is gone, decided to reorganize the sound card driver (formerly used OSS).
After a few days of struggle is loaded, record some of these small details.
Gentoo official documentation on ALSA:
Native information: kernel:2.6.30 arch:x86_64 sound card: Audio Device:ati Technologies INC SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)
So my driver is Intel HDA.
First need to shut down OSS (OSS must be closed if using ALSA)
Because mine is a onboard sound card, then I should be the corresponding driver found in the PCI device
PCI Devices--->---pci sound devices Intel HD Audio--->
Note: Compile him into a module, or alsaconf cannot detect the driver information (this is not necessary, although it can be used).
It's a kernel part, but it's not complicated, but I wasted two days because I didn't read the document carefully.
What if the drive is loaded and there's no sound? That's the kind of situation I've seen in Alsamixer. Both the master and the PCM are mute and open to maximum.
After many attempts to discover that there is no sound, but the sound is too small not easy to find, master's operation can not operate the volume size adjustment.
Make me anxious ~ ~
It suddenly occurred to me that there were multiple input and output sockets on the host, which had a problem with the original sound output jack (preliminary judgment), which led to no sound on one side of the loudspeaker, so I changed a hole earlier.
Under Windows Realtek Control Panel can choose to set the output function (such as: the original microphone into the voice output port), so the use of Windows does not find a small volume problem, and Linux may not be able to automatically detect or determine the external device.
After some toss and find in the Alsamixer Adjustment Center and LFE can adjust the volume size of two speakers, and then I put the center and LFE all to the maximum after using master to adjust the overall volume, now use normal. Problem solving.
