Ftp transmission using ie is ineffective, and resumable data transfer cannot be performed. Please refer to the following tips:
A few days ago, I introduced you how to build an FTP server with a small software at home, which helps us easily transfer data and files between different computers on the same network. However, in actual use, many readers have encountered such problems. I have also received many emails asking me if I can solve these FTP usage and transmission faults. Below I will tell you the most common faults, solutions, and principles, to help you better and more conveniently use FTP to transmit and share resources.
Tip 1: discard the browser and select a dedicated FTP Tool
Many readers log on to the FTP site through a browser, but this method has serious shortcomings. In addition to the low transmission speed, FTP site information cannot be saved, every time you log on, you need to re-enter the site information, which is very troublesome. In addition, resumable data transfer is not supported, which is fatal. Many readers have to transfer files over the network.
All of the above problems can be solved through dedicated FTP login tools. For these tools, we can download them from the sky or the huajun software station, of course, there are also many outstanding software in the IT168 Download Area. The most famous are flashfxp and leapftp. These software are pure graphical interfaces, which are easy to use. Next I will introduce Flashfxp as an example.
FlashFXP 3.1.12.1075 beta Lite version
Software size: 2422KB
Software language: Simplified Chinese
Software type: Shared Software
Running Environment: Win9x/Me/NT/2000/XP
-FlashFXP
Step 1: Download FLASHFXP for installation. The installation process goes one step to the NEXT step.
Step 2: Start the FlashFXP icon on the desktop, click "Connect" in the right window, and then select "quick connection ".
Step 3: Enter the IP address, port number, user name, and password of the FTP site you want to log on to on the quick connection interface, and click "Connect" to log on to the FTP server quickly.
Step 4: After logging on, You can transfer files to achieve the resumable data transfer function. After you shut down or drop the network, you can log on to the server again to transfer files to the original progress.
Users who have learned to use FLASHFXP for resumable file transfers are no longer afraid of the crisis of power failure.
Tip 2: Use the audio and video conveyor belt to increase FTP download speed
Sometimes we may feel that the download speed after FTP login is too slow, only a few K/S. On the one hand, your bandwidth is insufficient. On the other hand, whether you use IE or FLASHFXPFTP, these client tools are only single-threaded, And the download process is naturally slow. To download resources as soon as possible, you need to use the multi-thread download tool ." We often use the net transport and FLASHGET tools for multi-thread download. However, to download files on FTP with multiple threads, you still need some tips.
Net Transport V1.94a Simplified Chinese version
Software size: 1692 KB
Software language: Simplified Chinese
Software type: domestic software/shared version/download Tool
Application Platform: Win9x/NT/2000/XP
-Audio and Video Conveyor Belt
Step 1: Install and start the audio and video conveyor belt and select the site detector tab.
Step 2: enter the correct FTP server information in the site detector address, user name, and password, and press enter to log on, at this time, you will find that the built-in FTP tool of the audio and video conveyor belt shows a list of all files on the FTP server.
Step 3: Right-click the file you want to download and select "Download" to automatically enable the audio and video conveyor belt to download the file. We can set the number of threads for simultaneous download in the download window, this allows multiple threads to play FTP.
So how can I switch the FTP logon mode in the Net Transport? You also need tips.
Step 1: log on to an FTP site using the site detector of the video conveyor belt (Net Transport). If the working mode is incorrect, a "connection timeout" prompt will appear.
Step 2: We need to modify the working mode of the video conveyor belt (Net Transport). First, right-click the IP address of the site and select "add to Favorites ".
Step 3: click "other settings" in the pop-up site Properties window, and remove the check box before passive mode in FTP of the download tag.
Step 4: enter a tag name for the site and save the settings. In this way, we can successfully log on to the site and switch from passive to active.
After setting, we can use the software to download resources on an FTP using multiple threads, and the download speed is doubled.
Tip 3: Setting transmission mode to solve SOCKS errors
First, I will introduce the working principles of FTP. Only by clarifying the principles can we better understand the two working modes of FTP. The entire FTP connection process involves the following steps.
Step 1: an FTP server automatically listens to the default port (the default port can be modified, usually 21 ), when a client requests a connection to this dedicated port, the control process on the server is activated, and the user name and password and permissions are verified through this control process.
Step 2: After the verification is complete, another private connection will be established between the server and the client for file data transmission.
Step 3: During the transmission process, the control process on the server will continue to work, and continuously issue commands to operate the entire FTP transmission. After the transmission is complete, the control process will be sent to the client end command.
The above is the whole process of FTP connection establishment, but FTP itself has two working modes, that is to say, there are two methods to prompt "create another private Connection Method" in step 2. In terms of habits, we call them active and passive modes. The active mode is also called Pasv mode. In this mode, the "Data Transmission private connection" is used to actively connect to the client using Port 20 after the control connection is established (user authentication is completed, establish a private connection for data transmission.
This method provides better control over network management. Port 21 is used for user authentication, and Port 20 is used for data transmission. As long as the two ports are opened, FTP functions can be used as needed. The passive mode is called the Port mode, which is different from the active mode. The data transmission private connection initiates a connection to the FTP server after the control connection is established (user authentication is complete, which port is used by the client and which port is connected to the server are randomly generated.
Tip: Port 20 of many FTP servers is disabled or filtered out. In this case, the active mode cannot be used for data transmission, and the client needs to establish a connection in passive mode. The working mode depends entirely on the settings on the client. Therefore, switching the working mode has become the simplest FTP troubleshooting method.
If the FTP server only allows the client to access the FTP server in active mode, the SOCKS error mentioned in this article may occur when the FTP client with the passive mode connection is used to access the FTP server. What we need to do is to modify the transmission mode. The author still takes Flashfxp as an example. We need to open the site manager of the software, find the corresponding FTP site, and select the "option" tab on the right, remove the check box before "use passive mode" and Save settings. When we connect to the site, we will use active mode to transmit data. Of course, if you tick it, it means to connect to the site in passive mode and transmit data.
Tip 4: the active mode is also available when the browser accesses FTP
Sometimes, when you log on to FTP using IE browser, even though the user name and password are entered, after the input is complete, a message indicating that FTP cannot be connected appears, this is because the FTP transmission mode is incorrect. We need to modify the transmission mode. By default, the IE browser transmits FTP data in passive mode, and the above problem occurs when an FTP site is established in active mode.
Many readers do not know how to modify the FTP transmission mode in IE. In fact, we can use the internet option in the "Tools" tab of IE browser, and then locate the "advanced" tab, find the Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility) setting under "Browse" and remove the check box above.
In this way, our browser can access the FTP site established in active mode. If you want to access a site in passive mode later, you need to check this check box. Of course, to make the settings take effect, you must restart IE.
Tip 5: access an incompatible server using a clever column directory
Sometimes when we access an FTP service station, we have already passed the account and password verification, but it is stuck in the directory LIST, which has not been reflected in a few minutes. This is generally because we encountered a problem when using a third-party FTP Transfer tool. I will introduce Flashfxp as an example.
By default, Flashfxp will use the stat-l command to list directory information after logging on to FTP. However, some FTP service sites do not support this column directory method, therefore, the above issue will occur on the directory LIST interface. The solution is simple. You only need to go to the "options" tab of a website in Flashfxp and deselect the check box before the "use STAT-L" column directory (not compatible with all servers, after saving the file, we can log on and list the directory resources on the FTP server.
