Geographic DatabaseTechnology has always been the basic technology of ArcGIS. To fully use all the functions of ArcGIS, you need to store the data in Geodatabase. Geodatabase is a comprehensive information model that can store almost any type of data, such as vector data, attributes, images, terrain, and 3D objects. When storing these types of data, you can also define their behaviors, such as subclasses, domains, attribute rules, connection rules, and Topology rules, to ensure data integrity.
Geodatabase technology is part of ArcGIS for desktop and ArcGIS for server platform components. Its functions depend on the product version (basic, standard, and advanced ). The basic edition of desktop provides basic functions for simple element classes for creating databases. The basic edition of desktop adds advanced geographic database capabilities for dataset management, such as network, topology, and parcel structure, microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 express database is also supported. ArcGIS for desktop, in combination with ArcGIS for server basic edition's workgroup-level or enterprise-level, enables multi-user editing using supported relational databases, including IBM
DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.

-- The following are common Geodatabase problems in ArcGIS 10.2:

1. Can I use the SQLite database in desktop 10.2 and server10.2?

Desktop allows you to view and analyze data in the SQLite database through the query layer, but it cannot be published as a Service. More support may appear in subsequent versions.
2. in MySQL 10.2, can the file database and personal database be archived using the geographical database?
10.2 can archive non-versionized data, but this data cannot be in the file database or personal database.
3. Why are there restrictions on modifying field attributes?
10.2 A new function is added for modifying field attributes. However, attribute changes depend on the database system in which they are located. You can only change the attributes that can be modified by the database, for example, if the database management system does not allow you to change the length of a field containing data, you cannot use ArcGIS to change the length of the field.
4. What changes have taken place in the SDS (Spatial Data Server) introduced in ArcGIS 10.1?
ESRI does not plan to support SDS on window 2012, but integrates SDS functions into the core of ArcGIS for server.
We expect that the next time the ArcGIS system is upgraded, the element service of ArcGIS for server will be allowed to read and write non-geographic databases. In this case, you can use ArcGIS for server to publish local space data in a database (such as SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL) as a factor service without creating a geographical database.
5. What problems are fixed in 10.2?
The Database Connection Properties dialog box makes it easier to view the enterprise geographic database release version;
Corrected the coordination ry network problem, which may cause network inconsistency or problems during coordination;
Corrected the issue of coordination, which may lead to data loss.
6. Has ArcGIS been integrated with hadoop?

After the developer summit, an open-source toolkit was provided to allow developers to build their workflows for hadoop and execute them in ArcGIS. This open-source toolkit focuses on providing a geometric API for hadoop map reduce developers and a set of utilities for hadoop hive queries to use these geometric APIs. Developers will build and execute their own customization through the toolkit. To define a workflow, a group of available GP tools allow data import and export between HDFS and enterprise databases, and then execute them according to developer customization.
