New features of the user profile service application

Based on the technology provided by forefront Identity Manager, the user profile service application provides comprehensive solutions for identity and credential management and identity-based access policies.

Since RTM, the user profile service application has been continuously improved through accumulative updates and Service Pack, thus improving its performance and flexibility. Recent improvements include:

• Parallel Sharepoint, Active Directory, and business connectivity services import and export support

• Forefront Identity Manager performance improvement

• Reduces the number of full table scans and indexing specific user attributes

• Batch import business connectivity services user attributes

• Deleted the function of automatically setting users and groups to ILM Ma.

• Clear large running history programmatically

• Parsing the ad contact object in forefront Identity Manager Against Sharepoint Server 2010

After the above improvements, the time required to import user information to Sharepoint is greatly shortened. For example, on SharePoint Server 100,000 of RTM with 2010 users in Microsoft, it usually takes two weeks to completely synchronize the configuration file, and two to three days to support incremental synchronization. In the same case, the time required for full synchronization has been shortened to December 2011-2010 hours on the Sharepoint Server 120 with the cumulative update of version 140, and the incremental synchronization time is 6 hours.
