MDT is the recommended process for Microsoft and a toolset for automating desktop and server operating system deployments. MDT provides enterprise administrators with unified tools and processes, including a set of guidance, deploying desktops and servers in common deployment consoles, reduced deployment time, and standardized desktop and server images. August 17, 2015 Microsoft launches the update version with the version number Microsoft Deployment Toolkit Update 1 (6.3.8290.1000).

Major changes in MDT Update 1:

    • Support for Windows Evaluation and Deployment Kit (ADK) for Windows 10

    • Support for deploying and upgrading Windows 10

    • New Enterprise LTSB and education support for Windows version 10

    • Support for modern application (. appx) Dependencies and bundles

    • Improved support for segmented image files (. swm)

    • Switch to the imaging process using DISM (instead of using ImageX is not recommended)

    • Using Content Deployment Desk revisions is not recommended

    • Enhanced in-support deployment bench

    • Revised checklist in the time zone, region, and Language Deployment Wizard

    • Remove the Start menu shortcut "Remove PXE filter"

    • Recommended several MVP fixes for Windows update, password handling, and PowerShell cmdlets for PowerShell repair

    • Add missing OOBE settings to Unattend.xml

    • Unattend.xml default screen resolution changed to allow auto-scaling

    • Binary files that support integration with System Center R2 Configuration Manager SP1 updated task sequence

    • Integer comparison of the Windows version number of the new Getmajorminorversion function

Supported Operating systems:

Windows 10,windows 7,windows 8,windows 8.1,windows Server for Windows Server, Windows Server-r2,2012 server Technology Preview

Other software requirements:

    • The Windows Assessment and Deployment Toolkit (ADK) is required for all deployment scenarios for Windows 10.

    • System Center R2 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1 with Windows Windows ADK for the required 0 contact installation (ZTI) and user-driven installation (UDI) scenarios.

    • If you are using the ZTI and/or UDI, you can add the MDT SQL database to any version of System Center Configuration Manager with SQL technology; If you are using LTI, you must use a separate licensed SQL Server product that hosts your MDT SQL database.
