New mainstream browser Speed Performance EvaluationThis month, Chrome's stable version has been upgraded to v17, and Firefox has officially entered the V10 era. Who are the masters of these new browsers? How should I choose a browser fan? Let's take a look at a new round of performance testing conducted by lifehacker, a foreign technology blog, on four mainstream browsers.

The four browsers and versions selected in this test are chrome 17, Firefox 10, ie9, and opera 11.61.
First, let's look at the first test: Cold Start Time , Winner: Chrome

The time required for the cold start test browser to open to display the window. In this test, Chrome has obvious advantages, while Firefox 10 ranks bottom.
Performance Test 2: Tag loading time , Winner: Opera 11.61

In the second test, lifehacker loads nine tabs, including Facebook and Hulu, respectively. Opera takes only 6 seconds, and the performance of other browsers is unsatisfactory. Firefox and IE took 17 seconds, while chrome took 22 seconds.
Performance Test 3: Link loading time , Winner:Chrome

To test Chrome's pre-rendering function, lifehacker specifically runs the autohotkey script. Each browser runs several times and then deducts the address bar input time.
The test results show that Chrome has obvious advantages. Click the Enter key to load the page immediately. IE loading speed is also fast, while opera and Firefox loading takes up to 1.35 seconds.
Test Item 4: Javascript , Winner: Chrome

As usual, chrome again topped the Javascript test. Firefox ranks second, while IE and opera rank lower.
Test Project 5: DOM/CSS Performance , Winner: Opera

In the CSS test, opera is far ahead again. Firefox, chrome, and IE still need to significantly improve this performance.
Test Item 6: Memory usage (open 9 tabs) , Winner:Firefox

In the past, the memory usage problem had plagued Firefox browsers. According to the latest test, Firefox's performance has exceeded the excellent opera, while chrome and IE occupy a large amount of memory.
In addition, lifehacker does not open any tab to test the memory usage data of the browser. Chrome memory usage is only 42 MB, opera is 48 MB, Firefox and IE are close to 63 MB.
Test Item 6: Memory usage (Open 9 tabs and 5 plug-ins) , Winner: Firefox

When nine tabs and five extensions are opened, Firefox still ranks first in terms of memory usage, opera is the second place, and chrome is the bottom.
