Apache Shale recently upgraded to become the Apache level project.
The Apache Shale will also release the stable release version recently.
Shale was launched by Craig McClanahan, founder of Struts and a member of the JSF experts Group. Shale reuses a large number of struts code bases and claims that struts is its "parent" framework.
Shale is not just another modified version of Struts, it has expanded beyond the height that struts can reach. It contains some of the most important and recent development results in Java WEB programming, including JSP Standard Tag Library (JSTL) and JavaServer Faces (JSF), and build on these development results. Shale should be seen as a different kind of framework from Struts.
The areas to be noted are:
Since Shale is entirely a product of the rebuilding of struts, you must rewrite and test all of your struts based code to implement the code. You'll spend as much effort writing a new Shale application, or converting a Struts application into a Shale application, as if Shale is completely irrelevant to struts.
