Recently, the company has added a new batch of computers with the following simple configurations: p42.0ghz CPU, 256 MB ddr333 memory, 80 GB hard disk, integrated graphics card and nic.

This configuration can not help but increase a lot of motivation when I work. When I was excited to turn the computer on, I found that there was no problem in processing text and Image Systems, but it was unable to connect to the network. I began to suspect that it was because the network cable was not plugged in, But I immediately dismissed this idea after checking it. What is the reason? Is it a hardware problem? This batch of computers are assigned to us only after being strictly tested by the company's computer administrators. There will be no hardware problems.

At this time, my colleague's computer also encountered a failure that could not be connected to the Internet. I carefully considered that the NIC is the 10/100 M Adaptive NIC that comes with the motherboard, while the company's network is M, is it because the NIC itself does not match the network speed? So I manually set the network card to 100 Mbps, and then restart the computer, after the boot troubleshooting, the author can freely soar in the network.

Finally, the cause of the failure is that the Adaptive Mode of the NIC and the switch is incompatible, and the NIC speed cannot be automatically identified, thus the network communication is not possible. In addition, the 10/100 M switch is not configured with the M Automatic identification function, so the 10 m Nic cannot run normally. Therefore, I would like to remind you here: when purchasing or installing NICs, you must first confirm the port rate of the switch connected to the NIC to avoid unnecessary troubles.
