When I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 (intrepid), the NetworkManager applet on the panel was lost (NetworkManager applet is missing)
If the following response message is displayed when the terminal executes the NM-applet
** (Nm-Applet: 7559): Warning **: applet_dbus_manager_start_service (): cocould not acquire the networkmanagerusersettings service as it is already taken. Return: 3
(Nm-Applet: 7559): glib-gobject-critical **: g_object_unref: assertion 'G _ is_object (object) 'failed
The solution is as follows:
* Fix nm-applet can't execute Error
1. Modify/etc/dbus-1/system. d/NetworkManager. conf and/etc/dbus-1/system. d/nm-applet.conf
Change the following color characters to "deny" to "allow ".
<Policy context = default>
<Allow own = "org. freedesktop. NetworkManager"/>
<Allow send_destination = "org. freedesktop. NetworkManager"/>
<Allow send_interface = "org. freedesktop. NetworkManager"/>
</Policy>
2. Renew the dynamic route
Sudo/etc/init. d/restart
* Fix nm-applet "no connection defined" error
3. Stop NetworkManager
Sudo/etc/init. d/NetworkManager stop
4. Except/etc/Network/interfaces or rename)
Sudo RM/etc/Network/interfaces
5. Restart NetworkManager.
Sudo/etc/init. d/NetworkManager start
6. Merge rows of nm-Applet
