Microsoft said that the Office 2016 public Preview was open for download on May 4, the second public beta version of Office 2016, and will be open to Office 365 users and other users, while home users and business users can participate in the test. Earlier in March, Microsoft released its first preview, open only to IT pros and developers.
Office 2016 supports Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows ten PCs, notebooks, and tablets. If you want to use the new preview version, the user must first uninstall Office 2013. Two versions cannot be installed at the same time. It is also worth noting that Microsoft will periodically upgrade the public preview, whether before or after the official release.
Microsoft has been testing Office 2016 since last year. For Office 2016, Microsoft has enhanced its cloud networking capabilities as a key selling point. Microsoft is also developing a touch-based office app for Windows 10 mobile devices that users will be able to download through the Windows 10 store. The new version of Office for Windows 10 mobile devices is expected to open for testing this week.
It is understood that the new Office 2016 has added multifaceted upgrades, including document co-authoring, new "Tell Me" navigation support, integration with power BI, and more rights management capabilities. In addition, Microsoft reiterated that Office 2016 will be officially released in fall 2015.
