Open Text Company (http://www.opentext.com) launched LiveLink doorways to help users access and take advantage of the contents of other enterprise knowledge base.
LiveLink doorways provides a content integration framework for the company to enhance collaboration by putting all the knowledge content in the company together. No matter where the content is stored, it can be provided to users who collaborate under the Livelink framework. The original version of LiveLink doorways provides access paths to Documentum 4I and many other file systems, including Microsoft Windows, Unix NFS, and Oracle IFS systems. Open Text indicates that in later versions, access paths will be added to the DM and docs Open Systems of hummingbird, Lotus Notes and Domino systems, and other knowledge bases, it also provides a way to establish a connection with the corresponding knowledge base for partners and customers.
LiveLink provides the following functions:
Navigate to, display, and view copies and attributes of documents and composite documents from different knowledge bases, and use LiveLink as the unique, integrated, and web-based user interface;
Create and delete files and folders from other knowledge bases;
Create an alias for content from other knowledge bases in LiveLink so that it can be referenced in LiveLink discussions, tasks, workflows, project workspaces, news channels, or other work.
Add files from any knowledge base to the review and evaluation process of workflow software execution in LiveLink;
Access the content in any knowledge base from the collaborative workspace of LiveLink so that you can obtain all the required content from the workspace, no matter where the content is stored;
Use LiveLink brokered search to perform cross-database search for the content that can be obtained from LiveLink.
According to news related to Open Text, open text has reached a merger agreement with centrinity, a sound messaging company. Open Text indicates that the goal of the merger is to develop new solutions so that users can add emails and voice emails to other types of content and information in the Livelink knowledge base.
