At the beginning of this article, the author expressed the idea that using anti-aliasing technology is an alternative solution to improve resolution to improve image quality. That is to say, if the performance of the video card can draw a 3D image with sufficient high resolution and the display can correctly display it with this resolution, the anti-aliasing technology will not appear, even if it appears, it is useless. The authors believe that in order to make the precision of a 3D image reach a resolution of 1600 × 1200, a specific depth of full screen anti-aliasing can be enabled at a resolution of 1024 × 768. From my perspective, I disagree with the author's statement. I hope that I can express my views on this issue through this article and communicate with the author and readers.
Let's start with the author's sentence: "... If your display and video card can easily run a 3200X2400 resolution screen in the game, will you still use the full screen anti-sawtooth technology ?" (See the column in p321) First, we assume there is a powerful video card, it can run any 3D program supporting this resolution with a 3200 × 2400 resolution extremely smoothly without enabling full screen anti-aliasing, we also have a powerful CRT Display (this article will not discuss the fixed resolution and particularity of the LCD display ), its bandwidth is enough to display images at a resolution of 3200X2400. Then we have a 3D program that supports multiple resolution modes. The entire system supporting the above-mentioned display subsystem is extremely powerful, and none of its components will cause any bottleneck for running the above-mentioned program. Under this ideal condition, we run this 3D program with a resolution of 3200X2400 and a certain color depth. The results are ideal and the program runs smoothly. The question we want to discuss is not whether such a system or software exists, but what the display looks like.
We know that the optimal resolution of the 15 inch CRT display is 800x600, the 17 inch x 1024, And the 768x19 inch ...... In these resolutions, the standard font in the Windows system is displayed in the 8/9 (or 5) size, and there is no grain sense. If you have used more than 15 inch CRT monitors, I believe you will have this experience: from the boot self-check to the Windows Startup Process, the display screen is not as fine as it is after entering windows, and the larger the display, the more like this. This is because before entering the Windows system, the display worked at a VGA (640 × 480) resolution. After Entering the Windows system, Windows loaded the driver of the video card, then adjust the resolution to a value higher than that of VGA. At this time, the display screen is more refined. Similarly, if you have used a relatively high-end CRT display, such as a 1600 display that can work at a resolution of 1200 × 17 inch (or higher) At Hz, you open a 3D game, such as a first-person shooting game. I believe that you will not set the resolution to 640x480, because while the screen is rough, in the game, the handgun you hold occupies nearly 1/3 of the screen. You will set the resolution to a little higher, but it will not be as high as 1600 × 1200, because although you have a large field of view in the game, and the picture is very fine, however, the text displayed in the game and your quasi-star are very small and even difficult to see clearly (if at the same time you are unfortunately able to open anti-sawtooth, you can basically ignore these words. Of course, we will discuss them later). At the same time, you find it very troublesome to point the star to the enemies that appear in front. In fact, your most likely choice is 1024 × 768, which makes your operation easy at this resolution. This is also true for other types of games. In this case, you cannot set the resolution to 3200X2400.

If we use a large enough display, the size of the text displayed at a resolution of 3200X2400 on it is exactly the same as that displayed at a resolution of 17 inch x 1024 on the 768 display, I guess such a monitor is above 40 inch (1 ). If you have used a monitor of more than 21 inch like me, you will find it a very troublesome thing: under its standard resolution (1600 × 1200, when you are far away, you cannot see the above things clearly, but the Sight cannot cover the whole screen at a general distance. Sometimes it is very troublesome to move the sight from "start" to "recycle bin, I estimate that if the display is larger, the process must be completed by using the neck (maybe it will make people all day facing the computer screen get proper motion ). TV sets can be 50, 60 inch, or even hundreds of inches of projectors. movie screens can be hundreds of inches in size, but we cannot compare computer monitors with TVs and movie screens, because computer monitors provide high resolution, they are designed for close-up work.
In this case, running a 3D program with a resolution of 3200X2400 is not very likely, even if the resolution is at 2048x1536. The following describes whether the resolution and image quality are related. Run the 3D program with a resolution of 17 inch x 1024 on A 768 CRT display without enabling anti-aliasing. 2 is in fifa2005, with 1024x768 and 800x600 (bottom right corner), 32 bit color depth, high quality, disable fsaa runtime, we can see that no matter what resolution, all sertices exist. In fact, the contribution of Resolution Improvement to image quality improvement is mainly reflected in the reduction of image layering and grain sensation. To eliminate the sawtooth, the anti-sawtooth function is essential.
