Roles of segments in Word
When orchestrating a book, you must use "I, II, III ,..." As the page number, and use "1, 2, 3,…" in the text ,..." As the page number. Some users need to save the directory as a separate file and set different page number formats. However, there are still pages and preface in front of the book. Such pages generally do not need to be set with page numbers. If we divide them into different files, it is inconvenient to manage them, especially when printing in batches.
For example, when orchestrating certain documents, you often need to set the respective page numbers for each section. If the entire document adopts a uniform format, it does not need to be segmented. If you want to use a format that is not used in a part of the document, you must create a section. The section can be as small as a paragraph and as large as the entire document. Nodes are identified by delimiters. In a common view, the delimiters are two horizontal parallel dotted lines. Word stores the text margin, paper, square direction, and all the formatting information of the current section in the delimiter.
When you want to change some elements in some documents, you can create a new section. For example:

The interval and start line number of the displayed row number.
Vertical Alignment of text.
The format and location of the page number.
The number of columns in the report style.
The text, position, and format of the header and footer.
Margin, paper, and page direction.
Background and topic.

1.7.2.1 insert a subscriber
(1) Click the location of the Shard to be inserted.
(2) Click the separator command in the Insert menu.
(3) Click the option button for the delimiter type under [delimiter type], as shown in 1-36.

(1) Click the section to be modified.
(2) Click the page settings command in the File menu, and then click the layout tab. The page Settings dialog box is displayed.
(3) Click the start position of a section list box and select the required option from the list box on the right.

After saving, you can set the page that only applies to this section as needed. Because word automatically regards the entire document as a section before there are no sections, the page settings of the section in this document are the same as those in the entire document. You only need to select "Apply" as "this section" in the list box after "Apply", as shown in 1-37.

1.7.4 section and page number
After the section, you can set different page number formats for the section and rename the page number of the Section. The procedure is as follows:
(1) move the cursor to the section where you want to add page numbers, and select the Page code in the Insert menu. The page number dialog box, as shown in figure 1-38, appears.

(2) In the drop-down list box under [location], specify the position where the page number appears, including: the top of the page (header) and the bottom of the page (footer) PAGE vertical center, vertical inside and vertical outside.
(3) set the page number alignment format in the drop-down list box under alignment mode.

(4) If you select the page number check box, the page number appears from the first page. If the first page of this section is the title page, you do not need to insert the page number, you can clear the check box, but the second page number still starts from 2.
(5) Click format to display the page number format dialog box.
(6) You can select a page number format in the Number Format list box, such as "1, 2, 3 ,..." , "A, B, C ,..." .
(7) If the page number is added to the previous section, you can select the "prefix" section in the "page number Arrangement" option group. If the number is re-numbered, select the "start page number ], enter the start page number in the text box that follows.

1.7.5 how to set the header and footer of the Post-saving document
After the section, you can set a new header or footer for this section without affecting the headers and footers of other sections in the document.
To set a page or footer for a section, follow these steps:
(1) move the cursor to this section and select the "header and footer" command in the "View" menu. The "header and footer" toolbar shown in "1-39" is displayed.
(2) Click the "Same as before" button in "header and footer" to make it not concave, that is, to make its header or footer different from the previous section, then you can reset your own header and footer.
