Paste with Office Clipboard in Excel2007

Whenever you cut or copy information in an Office program, such as Excel, you can place information on the Windows Clipboard and Office Clipboard. When you copy information to the Office Clipboard, the information is appended to the Office Clipboard instead of replacing the existing information. When you store multiple items in the Office Clipboard, you can paste or group the items individually.

To use the Office Clipboard, you first need to open it. You can toggle the switch on the Clipboard task pane by using the dialog Box Launcher to the right of the bottom of the Clipboard group at the beginning->.

Tip: If you want to automatically open the Clipboard task pane, RAM click the Options button near the bottom of the task pane and select the Automatically show Office Clipboard option.

After you open the Clipboard task pane, select the first cell or range you want to copy to the Office Clipboard and use any of the preceding tips to copy it, repeat this procedure, and select the next cell or range you want to copy. After you copy the information, the Office Clipboard task pane displays the number of items that have been copied and a brief description (up to 24 items). Figure 14-17 shows the Office Clipboard with 5 copies of the work page. When you are ready to paste the information, select the cell where you want to paste the information. To paste a separate work page, click it in the Clipboard task pane, paste all the pages that have been copied, and click the Paste All button.

Click the empty All button to clear all the contents of the Öffice Clipboard.

The following descriptions of the Office Clipboard and its features are noteworthy:

Excel Pastes the contents of the Windows Clipboard when you paste by selecting Start-> clipboard->, pressing CTRL + V, or by right-clicking select Paste from the shortcut menu.

The last item cut or copied appears on the Windows Clipboard and Office Clipboard.

Clearing the Office Clipboard can also clear the Windows Clipboard.

Warning: However, the Office Clipboard has a serious problem that makes it almost worthless to excel users. If you copy an area that contains a formula, the formula will not be moved when you paste it into a different area, only the value can be pasted, and Excel cannot even warn you about it.
