Part 1: functional issues of Microsoft's academic search website

According to the instructor's blog requirements, after reading the related functions of the Microsoft academic search project, I personally tested most of the search functions (in fact, I was already in touch with the team's project Ui before, but at that time, I mainly focused on the design of interface elements, the focus of this test is its search function), including:

(1) simple search (only search for keywords)

(2) professional subject search (use the All Domains panel to select the subject scope for keyword search, but to achieve this goal, you can use simple search first, then, on the left side of the search results page, you can select the expected subject again, and you can also see the number of results for keywords in each field)

(3) Advanced Search features, which we used when designing XueBa websites, that is, according to the type of the search content provided to the user specific information restrictions)

(4) tested the function that can be modified by the user in Microsoft academic search (you must first log on to the LiveID)

(5) The query function of the draft information. I personally think this is very good!

(6) author or subject-Family Relationship Diagram (this function is still very useful. After all, graphical information can be better and more accepted by people, but I'm testing the Embed function, that is to say, there is a small problem when embedding images in the blog pages of other websites. I don't know if it can be regarded as a functional bug. I will explain it later)

(7) view the reference information of the content (in fact, it is important to give people a general concept, because when there are a lot of comparisons in the search, the image will not look very detailed, in this way, data analysis is definitely not feasible, and the view of referenced information does not actually use the data, but only the recognition of the trend is enough)

(8) Comparison of academic maps and institutions (I have to say that this expression is indeed very high-end. I searched many research institutions at home and abroad and found that the information provided is quite comprehensive)

Questions about the relationship diagram Embed: After an incomplete test, the embedded content can be viewed successfully in the cnblogs blog, however, in blog posts on some other websites, there may be situations where the profile picture cannot be displayed or the link fails, for example, Netease And Baidu (later I found that the same problem exists when embedding the thesis list, and the list should be embedded in javascript, I don't know if there are problems with some websites or the generated javascipt? But there is no problem in cnblogs. I personally think this is not a functional bug)

There is also a functional problem, which also occurs when we are doing XueBa, considering that users are most convenient to use the search function, therefore, you should set the use element of the search function in any part of the website, and academic search does not have this in many very inner pages, this may cause users to go back to the search result page when they want to change the search content, in this way, at least it is inconvenient for me to use it, and it should be very easy to improve this problem (it is very easy for me to change the XueBa interface ~)

 

Part 4: Search for applications of websites on mobile devices

(1) What kind of products are available on the market? Based on various Internet search engines, many search websites have developed applications for their own products on mobile devices, which are related to individual mobile devices, here, we only use iOS mobile device applications, such as Baidu and Google (although Google does not have an independent search application, moreover, the number of popular Win8 tablet apps is even more numerous;

(2) What functions are designed? Why is your application used? Because it is an application of the search function, the function is naturally based on the search, and other auxiliary functions such as graphic search can be used to analyze functions such as graphs and pie charts, there are also dynamic information that is collected based on searches in multiple fields and search results (search history), so that users can not only use this application for real-time search, you can also record the offline information of the searched content for future viewing and reminders;

(3) If your team has five people, three months, how should you configure roles as a project manager? Such as development, testing, and artist? First of all, the task between my team and project is to complete the artist. I personally think that the artist is better accomplished by a specific person with a unified style, then, the final test program should be divided into different parts and tested by different owners. Finally, the test is summarized. Therefore, the test part does not need to be completed by someone who is very specific, in terms of development, one person is required to take charge of the database, and others can be divided into different parts of the software;
