The History Brush Tool group includes 2 brush tools, namely, the history brush tool and the history Art brush tool. By default, the History Brush Tool button appears on the toolbox, as shown in Figure 1.

The history brush tool can draw a state of an image or a copy of the snapshot into the current image window. The tool creates a copy or sample of the image and then paints it with a copy of the sample. In Photoshop, you can create special effects by painting with the history art brush tool. This section will take practical steps to explain the usage and application techniques of the history brush tool and the history Art brush tool.
History is a record of what the computer is doing when we are working on the image. The number of recording steps can be set. Select the edit → preferences → performance command to open the Preferences dialog box, as shown in Figure 2. In the History States setting box, enter the number of steps you want, and the larger the value, the more memory you will occupy. The default setting is 20.
