This tutorial takes you through the various materials, brushes, and selection options to guide you through the combination of layer styles and create realistic results for writing in the sand.

1. Load Natural Pattern Package
Open the Edit > Preset manager and select the pattern in the preset type Drop-down menu. Then click the small arrow to the right of the preset type to select the natural pattern. When the query window pops up, select Append.
2. Create a background
1th Step
Open the Soilsand image, and then in the image > Adjustment > Color Balance, select the midtones in the lower hue balance, and then adjust the color balance to the value. 8,-1 and-26.
2nd Step
Click the High light option to adjust the color balance to 5,-1, and-5. This will adjust the material color of the sand.
3rd Step
Copy the background layer.
4th step
Turn on the image > Adjust > Levels, and adjust the gamma value to 0.80, which makes the material slightly darker.
3. Create text
1th Step
Use the Gelpen medium font to enter text in all uppercase cases. Font size for the PT, kerning is 100, the word color is #6c6760, and if you write more than one line of content, remember to adjust the spacing appropriate. Here I set it to the PT.
2nd Step
Change the blending mode of the type layer to soft light, and then copy the layer.
4. Set type layer style
1th Step
Double-click the original type layer, add an inner shadow effect, and use the following values:
Uncheck Use Global light
Angle:-180
Distance: 20
Size: 20
2nd Step
This is the effect of adding an inner shadow.
3rd Step
Double-click the copied text layer to apply the following layer styles:
Style: Clear Carving
Direction: Next
Size: 70
Select Anti-aliasing
Shadow mode-opacity: 100%

Contour: As shown in
Select Anti-aliasing
5th step
This will draw the shape inside the text.
5. Create an outer edge brush and stroke
1th Step
Right-click any type layer and select Create work path. Create a new layer at the top of all layers, rename it to 1, and then select the Brush tool.
2nd Step
Open the Brush Panel (Window > Brush), select a hard circle brush, and then modify the settings as shown below:

Using the direct Selection tool (A), right-click the path and select the stroke path.
Select the brush from the tool drop-down menu and click OK. Then press ENTER to leave the work path.
6. Modify the edges of the stroke
1th Step
CTRL + Click the thumbnail of the stroke layer (layer 1) to create the selection.
2nd Step
In the Select > Modify > Shrink and enter 3.
3rd Step
Go to select > Modify > Feather and enter 2.
4th step
Click the eye next to the layer to hide the stroke layer, and then select the background copy layer.
5th step
Press Command/ctrl+j to copy the selection to the new layer. By default, it is called Layer 1. Drag layer 1 to the top of all layers.
7. Modify Stroke Layer Style
Double-click Layer 1 and apply the following layer styles:

Select Anti-aliasing
High Light mode: soft light
Color: #ffe1ba
Shadow mode: Linear deepening
Color: #d0c1ab
2nd Step
Use the value of the default contour line.

Pattern: Spiny shrubs

8. Create a transition zone
1th Step
To make the texture of the stroke and the sand more natural, we add a transition area and feather it. Use layer 1 again to create a selection.
2nd Step
Select > Modify > Expand and then enter 7.
3rd Step
Select > Modify > Feather and enter 5.
4th step
command-shift+ Click a thumbnail of a text layer to add a selection so that there is no space inside your selection.
5th step
Select the original background layer, and then press Command/ctrl+j to copy the selection to the new layer. This layer is called Layer 2. Drag it between the background layer and the text layer.
