Play around with the shape tools in Photoshop

What is called basic shape, specific definition, estimated need to go back to primary school to ask the teacher. In my understanding, the basic shape is a circle and a polygon. The circle has a positive circle, an ellipse, and an oval circle. Polygons are more, triangular, quadrangular, Pentagon, hexagonal, and so on. Triangles also have right-angled triangles, equilateral, and isosceles. There are four quadrilateral and irregular quadrilateral in the four-sides shape. Irregular quadrilateral, such as trapezoidal, trapezoidal and isosceles trapezoid, right angle trapezoid. The rules have squares, rectangles, parallelogram, and rhombic shapes.

Of course, today we are not in geometry class, we step into the business.

PS, what is the basic shape, first look at a picture.

Click on the shape tool we can see, which includes the rectangular tool, rounded rectangle tool, oval tool, polygon tool, line tool, custom shape tool. Except the line tool and the custom shape tool, the rest, I think, can be seen as the basic shape in PS. We can use these shapes to piece together some complex shapes.

Let's take a look at the first photos.

From the above four graphs, we can clearly see that two shapes, add, subtract, overlap, exclude overlapping four path relations under the shape of the form. The two are well understood and there is nothing to explain. Cross overlap is where two shapes intersect, showing only overlapping areas. Conversely, exclusion overlap is where two shapes intersect and do not display overlapping areas. Note that the path operation requires that all two shapes be in the same shape layer. In this regard, CS 6 version will be more advantageous, because the CS 6 version, you can merge the shape layer, and maintain shape properties, the lower version can only be used when painting using SHIFT and ALT to achieve.

Perhaps a small partner to ask, where the path operation. You use the selection tool at the top of the menu bar.

Understanding the basic operation of the path, the next is to witness the miracle of the moment. We can implement some seemingly more complex shapes by copying these basic shapes, and by changing the path operation.

First, let's take a little example to understand how to cobble together shapes. Now, I want to draw a rounded hexagon.

The picture above, from the screenshot of the shape I chose to live in, you can clearly see that the same vector shape, the same rounded hexagon, the left side of the shape is through six round six rectangular pieces of the piece, and the right side of the figure is three rounded rectangles to pieces. The obvious difference on the left, the right side is a good way, it is obvious to the right corner of the hexagon, more accurate, more efficient.

There is no other meaning here, just say, see a shape, first we need to think, rather than casually, we can have a thought, why to do so, what good. For example, in this case, the rounded hexagon, we just need to draw a rounded rectangle, and then copy, rotate 60 degrees, we can easily get the shape we need, and the rounded corners of the rectangle we are free to change. As for why rotating 60 degrees, you think a little bit, you will understand, here I do not say.

Below, we use a few examples to practice practicing.

First, come to a simple share icon.

This icon, should be said to be very simple, we look at the first glance, we can clearly see that this icon, we can split into three hollow circles and two rectangles, this is our first step, analysis of the basic shape of the icon composition.

After clearing the train of thought, we can start work, the Ellipse tool draws a positive circle, then copies a circle, the ratio shrinks, uses subtract, we can get a hollow circle.

After we get a hollow circle, we can copy it, get three concentric circles, and put it in place.

Next, all we have to do is draw a rectangle and rotate it 30 degrees.

OK, now let's find a slightly more complex shape to try.

I found the shape of a cloud, the old way, we still first analysis. This shape is obviously made up of three circles and a rectangle, so let's try it.

The basic contours are out, and now all we have to do is make it hollow, and my practice is to copy each shape and subtract it.

Xu has a small partner to ask, why not directly merge the shape components, and then wait to shrink it, let's take a look at the following figure.

Is there a kind of egg and egg sadness, the combination of shape components, and so on, the ratio is reduced, the proportion has been maladjusted, on the contrary, replication after one after another than narrowing, there is no such problem, exactly what is this? Now, let's look at why this is happening, and I'll show you that I merged the shape components first, And then Ctrl+t.

OK, now I'm scaling 80%, to see what the effect is.

From these two graphs, we can see that we are directly equal to scaling, scaling is only the overall length and width of the shape, I believe it is easy to understand why, even if it is equal to scale, or the imbalance. In fact, as long as appropriate thinking, reasonable split shape, research good angle, some look complex shape, can also extremely easy.

The last nine sister sent a logo copy of the stickers, there is a Google browser icon, here we also by the way to study.

This icon said simple is not very simple, said the complexity is not, the most critical point, is the angle of the problem, directly with the pen can be painted, but the angle of grasp, we try, we first draw a guide, horizontal center, vertical center, draw a hollow circle.

I looked at the icon, the circle part is composed of three parts, obviously, part is 120 degrees, what we need to do now is how to divide the circle exactly into three equal portions, I draw a rectangle.

Now, I'm going to use this rectangle to give this round three equal parts, select a rectangle, duplicate a layer, ctrl+t, set the center point of the rectangle to the center of our guide, and rotate 120 degrees. Notice here that two rectangles are 120 degrees, and each 120 degree contains only the position of a rectangle itself.

Angle OK, the following is simple, we draw a rectangle, placed on the left, and then copy a rectangle, rotate 30 degrees, put to the right, two rectangles are used minus.

The next section, we'll use the pen to draw out, minus, and here we get the part of the three halves.

Select this three-part shape, merge the shape components, duplicate a layer, ctrl+t, set the center point as the center point of the guide, rotate 120 degrees, change the color, and then put the middle of the circle, finished.

The same reason, we can use this idea, to make some relatively complex things, technical content can basically say no, just a thought, a method. Let's give it a try.

Today's nonsense to here even finished, hope to be helpful to everyone. At best today is only a thought to share, but I think no matter what to do, the most important thing is thinking. Brain hole open, in my understanding, that is the train of thought.
