Play the unit of measure for the WPS text

WPS text is one of the three components of WPS Office, Microsoft Word compatibility is good, there are inches, centimeters, millimeters, pounds, characters and other units of measurement, a bit of "disorderly flower gradually want attractive eye" meaning. Understanding these units of measurement and conversion relationships, and mastering their setup methods and techniques, helps us to work with documents more flexibly and efficiently.

1. Conversion of units of measurement

Check the "Legal unit of measurement and the commonly used illegal units of measurement control and conversion table", 1 inches = 2.54 cm. Refer to the modern Chinese dictionary, we know that "pounds" is the British and American units of weight, but also a measure of the size of the printed font, is the "point" of the old, "point" is printed on the calculation of type and size of the unit, 1 pounds about 0.352778 mm.

twips (TWIP) is a screen-independent unit designed to maintain a consistent calculation of application elements as they are exported to different devices. The printer has 1 points, that is, "pounds", and 1 pounds is the equivalent of 20 twips. 1 inches has 1440 twips, or 1 inches = 72 pounds.

2. Setting of unit of measurement

2.1 Default Settings

The default unit of measure for WPS text can be customized. To perform the tools → options command, switch to the general and Save tab in the Pop-up Options dialog box (Figure 1), and choose one of the default units of measure in the Unit of Measure drop-down menu.

The default measurement units directly affect the units of measure for pages, paragraphs, rulers, drawing objects, and tables.

There are two ways to adjust the value of a unit of measure: one is to enter a number in the text box, and the other is to adjust the size of the number by adjusting the arrow. See Figure 2 Rounded Rectangular box section.

The default unit of measure has an effect on the ruler, and you must remove the check "√" before "Use character unit" When you select the default unit of measure. Otherwise, the ruler displays a character unit. The effect is shown in Figure 3.

The default unit of measure for paragraph spacing is points, if you select Use character units when selecting the default unit of measurement, points will become rows, as shown in Figure 2, with the rectangular box to the left, the default unit of measure for line spacing is the number of times for rows, and if minimum or fixed value is selected in its Drop-down list, The default display unit is "points."

2.2 Temporary reset

WPS text is more humane than word in terms of metric regulation, not only can you customize the default unit of measurement in your options, but you can not only enter or adjust the measure, but also arbitrarily reset the unit of measure as you want, and the unit of measure that you can reset is richer than the default unit of measure (character, line), see Figure 2 Rectangular box section. By placing the mouse over the unit of measurement, a small black triangle appears, indicating that there is a Drop-down menu, click, and the Drop-down menu will be displayed, from which you can choose.

2.3 Classification Settings

2.3.1 Page Setup

The "file → page Setup" command opens the dialog box, and the page width and height of the Paper tab are set to 0.26~55.88 centimeters, 7.2~1584 points, or 0.1~22 inches, and no objects within the page can exceed this maximum value. The precision adjusted by the input frame is higher than that by adjusting the button. In the Margins tab, you can set page margins, the sum of the top, bottom, or left and right margins, and cannot exceed the size of the page. In the Header Footer tab, you can set the height of the header and footer, and the minimum header or footer value can be 0, but the maximum value cannot exceed the maximum page size. This helps us to set up colorful headers and footers, such as setting the footer in the middle of a book turn.

The number of rows per page in the Document Grid tab, and the range of characters per line is limited by the font size of the default template, paper size, and the way the paper is. In the Drawing Grid dialog box, you can further set the horizontal and vertical spacing of the grid.

2.3.2 Paragraph settings

In Chinese, there are two characters indented at the beginning of the main paragraph, so many people are accustomed to knocking at the beginning of each paragraph with 4 half-width or 2 full-width space characters. It's a bit annoying to knock every line, and sometimes you knock or knock less and your documents will be mixed.

In fact, there is no need to be so laborious, you can use character units to improve the efficiency of Chinese paragraph processing. After starting the software default template, enter some text, and then follow the format → Paragraph command, select first Line indent in the special format indent, and adjust measure to 2 characters. You can also directly execute the "tools → text tool → paragraph indent 2 characters" command.

The WPS text is very thoughtful to the friend who is accustomed to knocking the space. If there is no cancellation in the tools → options → edit, "the beginning of the paragraph begins with the line indent" Check, you can enter at least 1 characters at the beginning of the paragraph by knocking on the 4 half-width or 2 full-width white space characters, and the next paragraph will automatically indent 2 characters, even if you hit a 2 return. Also, the space characters you type in the previous paragraph are replaced with the first line indented 2 characters.

Another way to do this is to save the paragraph settings in the template. The format → Styles and formatting command is executed, and the Styles and Formatting dialog box appears on the right side of the edit area. Select Modify in the Drop-down list of body, pop-up Modify Style dialog box, click Save to template at the same time, select paragraph in the Format Drop-down list, and in the Paragraph dialog box that pops up Indent is set to indent 2 characters in first line, 2 times OK and 1 "yes" to return the document. This is the setting for new documents that are created later.

The advantage of character is that paragraph indents (including four indents) do not cause formatting confusion because of font size changes, especially for documents with more graphics.

In the same way, paragraph spacing and line spacing are best set to a multiple of rows high, rather than directly set to a fixed value. Otherwise, paragraph spacing and line spacing are not appropriate when the font size changes. If you set paragraph spacing and line spacing to centimeters, millimeters, or inches, "OK" is automatically converted to the "pound" value of the equivalent.
