Problem: Reverse-engineer using script files and ODBC data sources

Solve:

PowerDesigner can reverse-engineer existing databases and add them to the new PDM. The data source can be a script file or an ODBC data source. When you use scripts in reverse engineering, you can use a single script file or multiple script files.

Reverse engineering from script files to PDM

1 Select File->reverse engineer->database to display a dialog box for the new physical data model.

2 Enter the data model name.

3 Select a database management system for the Drop-down list box.

4 Click OK. The Database Reverse Engineering dialog box appears.

5 Click the radio button that uses the script file.

6 Browse the appropriate directory to select the script file.
