I. PowerDesigner generating SQL problem
The method for generating SQL is database-->generate database (Ctrl + G) but hints

Could not load VBScript engine.
Check VBScript installation.

Generation aborted due to errors detected during the verification of the model.

Check out a long time to find the check model to remove it! which

Whether one file on needs to generate many SQL according to the table (default selected, i.e. not required)
ODBC generation SQL is generated directly into the database
Automatic Archive generates an APM file while generating SQL.

Second, Power designer, reverse engineering generation ER diagram
1. In PowerDesigner, choose File | Reverse Engineer | Database .... The New physical Data Model Dialog box, shown next, appears. The DBMS should be selected as Oracle 10G, then click "OK"
2. In the Database Reverse Engineering window, click on the "Using script Files", then click on the "new" icon, a dialog box to select files, select the location of the script file. Then press "OK ".
3. Generating ER diagram

Third, the use of PowerDesigner Export database er diagram, PDM diagram

This article is useful in the following two scenarios:

1. When the database description document is synchronized with the structure of the actual database.
2. When generating its explanatory documents based on the existing database structure.

I usually do this to generate the "Database documentation":

Method One (this is done when SQL Server 2000)

Using this software "Schematodoc with Table annotator v2.8.8", it is easy to find its keygen on the internet, so it is convenient to use, and the database documentation it generates is also very professional.

Unfortunately, I can't use it to connect to SQL 2005 or Oracle 10g;
The Enterprise Edition "SchemaToDocEnterpriseInstall.exe" is a smooth connection to SQL Server 2005 and Oracle 10g, but because there is no registration code, only 3 objects can be exported at a time (the objects here include stored Procdure, view, table, function, etc.) ...

Method Two

Use PowerDesigner to export the PDM (physical Data Model) diagram from an existing database and then analyze the PDM diagram with another gadget Pdmreader (available for download from http://www.pdmreader.com/). Then generate a description document.

Here is a detailed procedure:

The first part: Generate the PDM diagram by PowerDesigner.

1, open PowerDesigner, select "File" menu "Reverse Engineer", and then select "DataBase";
2. Enter the name of the PDM file to be created in the dialog box that pops up and click OK after selecting the type of database to be connected in the DBMS option;

3, select "Using a data source" under the Selection tab of the database Reverse Engineering Options screen, and select the data source to connect to the target database, click OK.

4. Select the data source name in the connect to a Data source screen, enter the user ID and password connected to the target database in the input box below, click "Connect", then click OK.

5, if the previous configuration is correct, you can now see the current database of data objects, such as tables, views, etc., by default all objects are selected, if you want to export only a few tables, you can remove the object you do not want to export the tick, and then click on OK,PD to start generating the object you selected for the PDM diagram.

6. Save the generated PDM diagram.

Part II: Using Pdmreader to generate documentation

1, after generating the PDM diagram, open it with pdmreader; it is important to note that when you open the PDM diagram with Pdmreader, you must ensure that the diagram is not opened in PowerDesigner.
2, click "New Project", enter the project name in the popup dialog box, click OK;
3, select the project name, click "Import Data Dictionary", and select the newly generated PDM map, click Open;
4, under the project name to select the PDM map link, the right side will appear a "Export Dictionary to Doc" link, click here.
