PowerPoint2007
When you select a template, you can choose from the following categories.
Installed templates: Templates provided by Microsoft, pre-installed with PowerPoint.
My templates: Templates that have been created and saved, as well as templates that were previously downloaded from the Microso bit office Online.
Microsoft Office Online Template: The Microso provides templates that you can download from the Microsoft Web site to your own needs.
Note: under "Templates" in Figure 3.1, there are "installed themes". Topics are not completely templates, but they are similar. The 1th chapter explains the difference between the two. You can create a new presentation based on a theme instead of a template. This type of presentation is created with a well-defined color, font, and effect setting.
1. There are few templates installed with the installed templates because Microsoft believes that most people today have Internet connections that are available online. Each installed template demonstrates a specific purpose presentation, such as an album, brochure, or quiz short. There is also a template for business presentations, but if you are interested in a standard business presentation template, you may prefer to view the templates that are available online.
Follow the steps below to create a new presentation based on the installed template:
(1) Select "Office button" ~ "New". Open the New Presentation dialog box.
(2) In the Templates list, click the already installed template fly a list of installed templates appears.
(3) Click a template to view the preview.
(4) Select the template you want, well click "Create". A new presentation based on the template will open.
2. Using a saved template as described in the previous section, when you create a new presentation by using the online template, PowerPoint copies the template to your hard disk, so you can reuse it later without having to connect to Intemet. It is stored in the My Templates folder with custom templates that you have already created.
To access your downloaded templates and custom templates, follow these steps:
(1) Select "Office button" Q "new" to open the New Presentation dialog box (see Figure 3.1).
(2) Click My Templates, and a new Presentation dialog box will appear that contains the templates that you downloaded or created. See figure 3.2.
(3) Click "OK". That is, you can create a new presentation based on the template.

Tip: The most recently used template name appears on the right side of the new Presentation dialog box when it was first opened. You can select a template directly from it and click Create. To properly remove an item from the Recently used templates list, right-click the item and select Delete all recently used templates.
3. Using Online Templates
You can find templates for a number of presentations on the Web. You can access the online template gallery without leaving PowerPoint. Follow these steps:
(1) Select the "Office button"-"New"-"New Presentation" dialog box open.
(2) in the Microsoft Office Online section of the Templates list, click the category of the template you want. If you need a standard business presentation, click Presentation: Most of the other categories have their own special purpose.
(3) The list of subcategories should appear in the central pane, based on the selected category. If it does, click the subcategory you want.
(4) Click a template to view the preview.
(5) Select the template you want, and click "Download". A new presentation is created based on the template.
Tip: Take the time to browse through the large number of templates available on Microsoft Office Online. For example, the template in design slides does not contain any sample content-→ and design elements. There are subcategories for earlier versions of PowerPoint, so if you have a design template in PowerPoint 2000 that you love, you can find these templates from here.
