Preface
Recently I met the demand for large-sized model proofing. I was overwhelmed by this 17cm-diameter kossel mini. What should we do? At this time, kossel is good and can be expanded at will, so we should create a kossel-Max on our own. In order to pay tribute to the predecessor m, the design of the whole live broadcasting draft, accessory procurement, configuration debugging, assembly, leveling and precision debugging of the Main Board will be conducted throughout the whole process, also, we have another option for kids shoes who want to make kossel. In this article, we mainly refer to the kossel original version, the kossel-mini Improvement Project of M and the kossel-Mini Max project.
The following is a video of kossel mini (non-advertisement, mainly thanks to the concept of a printer without having seen a parallel machine)
Project Parameters
Dimensions
Body Size: triangle base, side length ~ 45 cm, height 110 cm, forming disc diameter 30cm molding size: bottom layer ø 300MM, cylindrical height 440mm, tower tip height 500MM molding volume: 31 ~ 32.5l (nearly four times the kossel-mini Standard Edition and nearly three times the M version) consumables: ø 1.75
Where is big? Why is it big?
Isn't it still worrying that the plate in thinginverse cannot be put down? It's normal because most plates are designed in 20 cm * 20cm sizes. How much can kossel put down? Draw two sketches Based on the diameter of the plate, for example:
The picture on the left is kossel-Mini, and the picture on the right is kossel-max (the giant size in the sketch is incorrect, and the size in the following text prevails)
The diameter of the standard Mini is only 20 cm, and the side length of the inner Cut Square is = √ (20*20/2) = 14.1, even more depressing is that most of the kosselmini are smaller in print size than the plate (some are because the outer cut triangle is too small, that is, the frame base, and some are because the rocker arm is too short ), generally, the actual printing diameter of a 20cm-diameter plate is only about 17cm, so the side length of the inner Cut Square is only √ (17*17/2) = 12.02, do not cry, do your own clothes and food.
Our max diameter is 30 cm, the triangle side is 42 cm, and the arm length is 36 cm, so we don't need to consider the shrinking problem. The length of the inner side of the square is = √ (30*30/2) = 21.21 cm, now you can directly use the Dishes served by others.
Height in kossel design has always been a headache, because the rocker is wasting a lot of height, and the rocker is shrinking when it is short. In the mini version, the bottom of the frame is too small, increasing the height is obviously unstable. Now the max height is 1 meter, and the printing height is 50cm. After all, the base is large enough! The ultra-high height has brought the gospel to the print tower model. Has it ever been defeated by the Eiffel Tower for countless times? Without it, the steel ribs of the tower are too fine, and the OFDM is not suitable for vertical playing too fine, and it can be magnified under Max, no pressure.
3D printer comparison
3D printing technology, also known as the rapid prototyping technology, has been developing for decades. We are talking about the OFDM technology, which is one of the most affordable products, most of the machines come from RepRap, an open-source organization. The most popular ones are as follows:
From left to right are kossel, ultimaker, Replicator, and the biggest difference between the two is the extruder position.
Because kossel does not have a screw drive, the speed is the fastest, and the structure shows that kossel is the most cost-effective.
Kossel
Advantages: fast speed, low maintenance, simple structure, high cost performance, fast calibration, and simple leveling method;
Disadvantage: The Tower-shaped fuselage has high stability requirements!
Ultimaker
Advantages: the speed is almost the same as that of kossel, and it can reach 300 m +. The stability is high and the leveling method is normal;
Disadvantages: leveling is troublesome. calibration is required before printing each time. Some children's shoes are helpless to solve this problem with glue after calibration.
Replicator 2x
Advantages: The Makerbot design is well known as short-range extrusion. It has good adaptability to various models, average speed and high stability. The leveling is the same as above;
Disadvantages: It takes half a minute to upgrade or downgrade the platform. The leveling problem is the same as above;
Prusa I3
Advantages: Ultra-high cost performance, one of the veterans of RepRap, also belongs to short-range extrusion, good adaptability to various models, average speed, general stability, leveling is the same as above;
Disadvantages: Poor maintainability. Although it is the third generation, the leveling problem is the same as above;
Kossel Delta 3D printer news
Seemecnc is working on the construction of a giant kossel with a height of 15 feet. This is really big. Print the real-person-size model. If you don't talk about it, you will understand it.
