First, create some vector fragments with illustrator, then combine them in PS with blending modes and light effects to design a cool poster.

The Cosmic abstract fragment poster We're going to design is characterised by the overlapping of a set of sharp vector objects to create a cool translucent pattern effect. The combination of the cosmic background, intense light effect and subtle pattern superposition gives the design futuristic style.

First, open the Adobe Illustrator and draw a slender rectangle on the artboard. Hold down the SHIFT key and rotate it 45 °.

Use the direct selection tool to select the top and bottom two points, and move up to the left to create the following shapes.

The opacity of the modified object in the transparent window is 50%.

Hold down the ALT key while you click the Drag object to create multiple replicas. Hold down the SHIFT key to zoom in or out, and distribute them randomly around the previous object.

Continue copying the fragments until a cool overlapping effect is generated. If there are any gaps between the fragments that look unsuitable, you can make some adjustments.

Select all elements, then click on the object → transform → symmetry. Select vertical symmetry and press the Copy button to create a specular effect.

Move all the symmetric images to the appropriate location, aligning some of the fragments with the vertical edges, allowing additional fragments to be superimposed.

Select the two sets of fragments, once again symmetric, this time select horizontal symmetry. In the center of the artboard, align the shapes to create a complex overlapping pattern.

Create a new file in PS and set the file size to poster size. Then, add a blue radial gradient in the center.

Paste the fragments from the illustrator onto the PS canvas and enlarge the size so that it extends beyond the edge of the canvas.

Download a cool cosmic picture from NASA's library, add it to PS file, and set the blending mode to "overlay".

Then go back to illustrator, change the black fill of the fragment to white, and paste it into PS, aligned with the previous shape. Set the blending mode of this layer to "overlay" and add a layer mask to fade the fragment with a soft edge brush.

Download a cool fine pattern and add it to the entire file. Here I used a style called sheet metal, and set the blending mode to linear depth.

Use a large soft edge brush to point a few white dots on a new layer, set the blending mode of the layer to "overlay", and adjust the opacity to control the intensity of these highlights.

Look for a photo with a bright sun halo and adjust the color levels to darken the sky until it appears black.

Paste the flare section into the design file, placing it at the intersection of the fragments by zooming and rotating.

Change the blending mode to a filter, at which point the black area becomes transparent, and the lasso tool removes a partial halo along the edge of the fragment.

Add extra depth by removing half of the halo, resulting in a multi-level appearance.

Point a white dot on a new layer, and then stretch and flatten the growth flat shape.

Select and remove the next half, and then set the blending mode to "overlay" to create a linear luminescent flare.

A set of linear flare flares are crossed with a fragment cross to randomly highlight the edges within the fragment shape.

Pick several colors from the original image and draw the following effect on a new layer.

Change the color hue of the overlay so that it blends with the color of the layer below, and then adjusts the opacity to control the overall color scheme.
