This article focuses on shadows/highlights and curves, and, well, a little bit of smart objects.
By changing the contrast and the black and white adjustment layer, you can learn a technique that converts an image into a hand-drawing effect.
The end result looks like a hand drawing, and then a more rustic hand-drawn feeling is created by fine-tuning the brush.
01. Enhanced Contrast
First, download the source file, and then import the image. To highlight this important area of the eye, select Layers > Create a new Adjustment layer > Curve.
Then adjust the middle point (the second vertical line point), as in the above figure to move the point, (accurate input value 130, output value 197), this will highlight the midtones. The point on the first vertical bar is input 61, and the output is 77.
02. Highlight Iris
Click on the curve to adjust the layer's white mask. Press Cmd/ctrl+i to convert to black. Now use the Brush tool. Select a brush preset in the panel, select a flexible particle round brush, size 60px. Opacity 100%, the foreground color is set to white, and then a few strokes on the iris. As pictured above.
03. Fine-Tuned eyes
Brush opacity to 46%, and then fine portrayal of the whites. So the eyes will heroic spirit attack people, this is the key to the portrait, the eyes to God. Teeth should also be whitening.
Highlighting the eyes is sometimes easier to overdo, so you can set the opacity of the adjustment layer to 50% for fine tuning.
04. Adjust shadows and high light
To adjust the details, convert the background photos into smart objects. Image > Adjustment > Shadow/Highlight are all set to 15%.
05. Continue to enhance the control
To enhance the overall sense of control, create a new curve adjustment layer again, the first vertical line, input 61, output 51. Then the third vertical bar is set slightly to the left, input 169, output 179, so the high light will be obvious.
06. Convert to Monochrome
Select the topmost layer in the layers panel, layer > New adjustment layer > Black and white. This will get grayscale images.
The red value is 46. Leave the default setting left.
07. Define Patterns
Select Background layer, Edit > Define Pattern
08. Select the pattern
Using the Pattern Stamp tool, select the defined pattern.
09. Load NIB Shape
Click the brush preset. You can find a lot of brushes in the small pop-up window. Select "Dry Brush" (Dry Media brushes), and in the Brush dialog box that appears, select a brush called the Contépencil on bumpy surface (a pencil brush!)
10. Adjust the NIB
Pen tip shape spacing is set to 60% in the brush panel. Scatter label, scatter set to 20%. You can also go to the shape of the dynamic more in-depth adjustment (control inside the pressure to adjust the pen).
11. Create a white background
Once you have finished adjusting the shape of the nib, you can begin to hand-painted! First, create a new layer, named white background. Then, the new white background layer is above all the layers.
Then edit > Fill. Fills the layer with white.
Create a new transparent layer and name it "grass drawing."
12. Start sketching
The foreground color is black and the stamp tool begins to draw the face of the model. The pattern defined in step 7 will be reproduced in the procedure. Remember to have a crossover effect when drawing the line, and set the layer transparency to 70% when finished.
13. More precise details
Create a new transparent layer, named Precision sketch. The tip size in the pattern tool can be reduced to 4px. Then draw more intersecting lines to create more precise details (or adjust the opacity appropriately).
When you're done, create a new transparent layer and place it between two drafts, and name it "White brush."
14. Create a sense of patchwork
Select the Brush tool to find the contépencil on bumpy surface (or use the pencil tip you chose earlier). Then in the Brush panel, follow the steps 10 setting. Using a white stroke, draw a few lines in the "White brush" layer (to be finely crafted) to create a patchwork of hand-drawn pieces.
15. Select a gradient map
The new layer, located on top, is named "Color sketch." Then select the pattern Stamp tool, tip size 6px, draw a few lines on the diagram,
Then layer > New adjustment layer > Gradient map. Select the blue and yellow red gradient.
16. Create a clipping mask
Select a gradient map adjustment layer to create a clipping mask.
Adjust the layer blending mode to linear light.
17. Add Color and contrast
Create a new layer called the colored grass drawing 2″. Only this time it's not a gradient map adjustment layer, but a hue saturation adjustment layer. Coloring, Hue 221, saturation 48 adjust out some blue strokes. (Before you set up the adjustment layer, use the stamp tool to draw a few on the colored grass drawing 2)
Then create a new curve to adjust the layer, preset to select enhanced contrast.
18. Material sense of the building
Layer > New Fill layer > pattern then OK. Click on the fill layer of the pattern preview, select the art surface, there is a watercolor painting, choose this. The blending mode is set to multiply. The whole will have the texture of the paper.
