You do not need to map the image. It is the simplest and best-performing method.
1. Use the magic wand to select the background of the red part. CTRL + ALT + D (the range is slightly larger, depending on the image resolution)
2. Press Ctrl + u to display the color window and press Ctrl + 1 to adjust the color and saturation and brightness to an ideal value (sometimes Ctrl + ~ Fixed Multiple times)
Step 2 can also be used with "1. Select the background method in image adjustment. Remove the unsatisfactory background from the photo, and then insert the extracted characters into a new favorite background image. This method is suitable for removing background with monotonous patterns and few colors, so as to select characters.
2. Select the character method. This idea is just the opposite of the above, that is, to directly select and cut or copy the characters or objects required in the photo to a pre-determined background photo. This method is suitable for retrieving people or objects with clear edges.
The final effects of the above two photo background changes are the same, but the specific idea to be applied depends on the specific photo to replace the background.
Detailed explanation of the four image extraction methods
I. Tools-use magic wand tools to replace the background
Tip: the magic wand tool allows you to select a color-consistent area (for example, a safflower) or a monotonous background without tracking its outline. The color range selected by the magic wand tool can be controlled by the "error range" parameter value in the tool option bar. Note: Do not use magic wand in bitmap images.
The following is an example. Open a photo in Photoshop, as shown in 1. Let's take a look at this picture. The background is relatively dim and the background color is similar. In this case, we can use the background removal method to plot the characters.
Figure 1
The idea of this example is to use the magic wand tool to select most of the area of the background, and then use the method of adding or deleting a constituency for further selection. If you cannot select details, use the plug-in tool or magnetic plug-in tool.
1. Open the photo in the photoshopcs Chinese version, click the magic wand tool in the toolbox, and set the tolerance parameter value to 50 in the tool option bar that appears. Then, click the left mouse button on the background to obtain most of the background selections. For discontinuous constituency, when selecting the magic wand tool, you can click the "add to constituency" icon in the tool option bar, or press and hold the Shift key on the keyboard, and then click other options to select, 2.
Figure 2
2. Next we will further select the background. First, click the Zoom tool in the toolbox to enlarge part of the photo. Or, if the "add to constituency" icon in the options bar of the magic wand tool is selected, change its tolerance parameter value as appropriate, and then click the unselected background area using the magic wand tool, this will further increase the selection of the background area.
TIPS: if you use a magic wand to select a part of the character's area, you can use the magnetic cable plug-in tool, click the "subtract from constituency" icon in the option bar of the tool that appears, and then select the constituency. For small areas in the background that are not selected, you can use the plug-in tool and select the "add to constituency" icon for further selection.
3. Next we will extract the characters. Click the "SELECT> reselect" command in the menu bar, or press the shortcut key "Ctrl + Shift + I" to select the character. Press Ctrl + C to copy the character, press Ctrl + V to paste the character into a new layer 1, as shown in 3.
Figure 3
4. Details. Select Layer 1 for storing characters, and use the Zoom tool to zoom in the characters. You can use the eraser tool in the toolbox to erase the Sawtooth part highlighted on the edges. Next, press Ctrl and left-click the character layer to select the extracted character. Then, click the "SELECT> Feather" command in the menu bar, or press the shortcut key "Alt + Ctrl + D" to open the "Feather" dialog box, enter the parameter value of "Feather" 2, and click "OK. In this way, the edges of the entire character will look soft and stiff.
TIPS: Adjust the value of the feathers parameter to check whether the edges of the selected person or object are rough. If the edges of a character or object are rough, you can increase the value of the feathers parameter.
5. Add a background. Click the "File> open" command in the menu bar, find a beautiful background image within the search range, add the extracted characters to the background file, and adjust the position and size. Click the "image → adjust → brightness/contrast" command in the menu bar to open the brightness/contrast dialog box and adjust the brightness of the character to adapt to the Background Brightness and shade. The final effect is 7.
Figure 4
Knowledge Point Summary: It is often difficult for us to distinguish the selected and unselected regions when performing image cutting. In this case, we can save the selected selection area to the new layer, and then re-select it to gradually Delete unnecessary parts. For details that are not easy to handle, you can use the eraser tool for trimming.
Ii. Path Method-use a pen tool to capture characters
Tip: path is a method provided by Photoshop to draw the boundary and stroke of a selected area. It is a good helper for us to draw images. A path is a line and a graph composed of the besell curve. It is generally divided into open channels and closed paths. If you want to convert a path to a selection, it must be a closed path. You can use the path to retrieve pictures of a person that is more suitable for the person's edge contour.
Before proceeding, let's take a look at the photo and think about the tools and methods used to operate the photo. In this photo, we can see that the outline of the character's edge is clear, so we can use the path tool to extract the character from the original background image and put it in the new background.
Next we will start the operation.
1. Go to Photoshop and open the photo. Click the pen tool in the toolbox and select the path icon in the options bar. In this way, the path is selected by using the pen tool. Next, use the Zoom tool in the toolbox to zoom in the image and carefully select the outline of the character. The check method is as follows:
Start to sketch path nodes starting from any edge of a character. When two or more nodes have been defined in the image, the path direction is determined. Continue to draw other nodes around the characters in this direction. If a node needs to be relocated, press Ctrl and click the node to modify it. The node is used to move the curve position, and the handle on the node is used to adjust the curve radians. by adjusting the curve radians, make the path closer to the outline edge of the character, as shown in Figure 5.
Figure 5
2. After selecting the outline, we will start to extract the outline. Press the shortcut key "Ctrl + enter" to convert the selected path to a constituency. You can also press the ctrl key and click "Work path" in the "path" Panel to convert it to a constituency. Press Ctrl + C to copy the characters in the selected area and press Ctrl + V to paste them. Then, the characters are automatically saved to a new layer 1, 6.
Figure 6
3. Detail trimming. The operation method is similar to the later operation method that uses the magic wand tool to replace the background. First, use the feather command to feather the outline of the character, so that the outline edge of the character will not appear stiff and realistic. You can use an eraser to finish the trimming in some areas.
TIPS: When you use an eraser tool to trim a character, especially when you trim the facial details, you must adjust the size of the eraser tool, the smaller the eraser tool is.
4. Add the background and modify the final effect. Click the "File> open" command in the menu bar, locate a background image in the search range, and press the shortcut key "Ctrl + A" to select all background images, press the shortcut key Ctrl + C to copy it. Return to the original file and press the shortcut key Ctrl + V to paste the background image. Then, the system automatically generates a new layer 2. Next, adjust the position of Layer 2 that contains the background image to the bottom of Layer 1 that contains the character, and then adjust the relationship between the size and position of the character and the background.
When the transition between a character and a background is unnatural, you can click the "Blur" tool in the toolbox and click it on the edge of the character. This makes the transition between the character and the background natural. Finally, click the "filter> rendering> lens Halo" command in the menu bar to open the lens halo dialog box, set the brightness parameters and lens type, and add several more lens halos to the background image, in this way, the final effect is finished, as shown in 7.
Figure 7
3. Mask Method-use MASK technology to Map Images
After I have discussed the two types of character image extraction methods, are you familiar with the methods for extracting the character image and changing the background? However, there are some common features in the first two methods, that is, when the background color is single or the outline edge of the person is clear, the success rate of image extraction is relatively high, however, in actual life, the pictures we take often have complicated background colors and unclear outlines, such as hair. It is not easy to deal with them using the above two methods. The quick mask editing mode provided by hotoshop can easily solve this problem.
TIPS: masks are what we call masks. It overwrites the image and isolates the non-editing areas of the layer from operations in other areas. You can use a mask to create a selection area of any shape and control the appearance of the edge of the selection area. The quick mask mode allows you to quickly create and modify a very precise selection range. Create a quick mask for the selected area, and then use the drawing tool or filter to modify the selected area so that the selected area can be expanded or reduced, finally, when you exit the quick mask mode and return to normal mode, the unmasked area will become a selection area and be selected, so that you can create a precise selection area. After creating a quick mask in an image, you can use almost all the tools and filters to modify the mask.
First, analyze a photo, as shown in figure 8. (Thanks to Tim Ma, the photo material moderator)
Figure 8
The background color of this photo is complex and has a strong sense of attention. Obviously, it is difficult to use the magic wand tool to select a large area of background area at a time, and the intersection of the outline edge of the character with the background is more complex, especially for hair. If you use the pen tool to draw a path, it will be troublesome. In this case, we can consider using the quick Masking Method.
Creative Thinking: after entering the mask, use the paint brush to first smear the outline of the character's edge, Then smear the entire character, then convert it into a constituency, and finally extract the character.
1. Let's first set the parameters of the quick mask. After opening a photo with Photoshop, double-click the "edit in saved mask mode" button under the toolbox to open the quick mask option dialog box, as shown in Figure 13. In this dialog box, you can select whether to display the color to the mask area or the selected area. In addition, you can also use the color and transparency to display the color. Generally, the color is red by default. If the color of a person is reddish, we can choose other colors with a high contrast to red, such as blue, which makes it easy to distinguish. (See figure 9)
Figure 9
2. After Entering the quick mask, click the paint brush tool in the toolbox to start painting. First, we start from the outline edge of the character. In the paint brush options toolbar, set the paint brush mode to "normal", opacity to 100%, and traffic to 100%. Note that you must be careful when applying the hair, and set the size of the paint brush to a smaller value and the hardness to facilitate better operations.
Next we will start to smear along the outline edge of the character. After the outline edge of the character is smeared, we can adjust the size of the paint brush to a greater value until all the characters are covered, 10.

Next we will start to smear along the outline edge of the character. After the outline edge of the character is smeared, we can adjust the size of the paint brush to a greater value until all the characters are covered, 10.
TIPS: to delete a place that has been smeared, you can select the foreground color as white and erase it with a paint brush. Use the Zoom tool in the toolbox when applying the tool, which makes the operation more convenient.
3. after the painting is complete, click the "edit in standard mode" button under the toolbox and return to the standard editing mode. Then, we can see that the area other than the profile has become a constituency, 11. Because we want characters, execute the "SELECT> reselect" command in the menu bar to select the characters.
Figure 11
4. extract A character to a new layer, follow the steps and methods shown in the previous two examples, and press the shortcut key "Ctrl + C" to copy the character, press the shortcut key "Ctrl + V" to paste the character into the new layer 1. After hiding the "background" layer, you can see the individual character, as shown in Figure 12. In Figure 5, we can see that the details of the characters, especially the complicated hair parts, are also processed very well.
Figure 12
5. finally, we select a nice background image and place the characters in it to trim the brightness, size, and position of the characters, in particular, you can use fuzzy tools to process hair and other edge details. Click the filter → blur → Gaussian Blur command in the menu bar to open the Gaussian blur filter dialog box and set the Blur parameters. This will make the characters look more natural and the final effect will come out, 13.

Iv. Filter Method-powerful filter Extraction
Familiar with the first three methods, the characters in the photo can be easily taken out, especially the quick masking method can be used to better deal with the details. However, in some cases, it is still not ideal to use the MASK technology to manage hair and skin edges. In this case, we can consider using the filter method, you can use the extract filter to precisely hide a character.
Tip: compared with the first three tools, filter extraction provides more professional and powerful tools and parameters. The extract filter provides an advanced method to isolate a foreground object and clear its background on the layer. Even if the edge of an object is subtle, complex, or uncertain, you can cut it out of the background without too many operations, you can also specify the image extraction part by using the tool in the "extract" dialog box. The main step is to first mark the edge of the object and fill in the part to be retained. You can preview it and then modify the extracted effect.
Let's take a look at a picture, as shown in Figure 15.
Figure 15
From this picture, we can see that the background color looks similar to the color of the character's clothes, and the hair is more messy. We want to precisely pull it out of the background, use the extract filter.
1. Open the photo with Photoshop, click the "WINDOW> layer" command in the menu bar, or press the shortcut key F7 to open the layer panel. Right-click the background layer and select the copy layer command from the shortcut menu to create a copy of the background layer. Then, after ensuring that the "background copy" layer is the currently edited layer, click the "filter> filter extraction" command in the menu bar to open the filter extraction dialog box, as shown in 19.
On the left side of the dialog box, there are some tool buttons for filtering, the top-to-bottom tools are edge light tool, fill tool, eraser tool, straw tool, cleanup tool, edge modifier tool, Zoom tool, and grip tool. On the right side of the dialog box is the filter extraction parameter settings, which are not explained here due to space reasons.
2. After learning the meaning of each part of the filter, we start to operate on the characters. Click the Zoom tool to zoom in the character image, and then click the edge light tool. At the same time, adjust the value of the "paint size" parameter on the Right To help smear the hair part of the character. You can use an eraser tool to erase the incorrect part. First, smear the outline of the edge of the character. After the sketch is completed, click the fill tool in the left-side work bar to fill the person's skin. 20. Click the "preview" button on the right of the dialog box to quickly see the extracted content in the preview window. 3. After completing the preceding settings, click the "OK" button in the dialog box to exit the "extract" filter. In this case, you can click the "eye" icon on the left of the "background" layer on the layer panel to hide the "background" layer and make the "background copy" layer appear, in this way, we can see the effect of using the extract filter.
4. finally, use Photoshop to open a background image and copy and paste it into the original file. A new layer 2 is automatically generated, after adjusting parameters such as the size, position, and brightness of the character and background, the final effect is displayed, as shown in Figure 21.
A new layer 2 is automatically generated, after adjusting parameters such as the size, position, and brightness of the character and background, the final effect is displayed, as shown in Figure 22.
Step 2 can also be implemented in combination with the "Optional colors" in image adjustment and other functions, depending on the actual situation (the complexity of the background image)
