"Green imagination" in the data center"

In today's era, everyone wants to go green. The word "green" has become a trend. People are paying close attention to climate change. The adoption of renewable energy, pollution reduction, and recycling of waste products are becoming increasingly important. Enterprises are also promoting their environmental practices and products. Organizations are looking for energy-efficient solutions for their data centers to reduce downtime and improve efficiency. Some of the practices listed below will help people extend the service life of their data centers and delay their demand for data center expansion.

Do you want to know which devices are used? As we all know, the data center equipment consumes most of the power provided to the data center. Where will people begin to implement their green trends? That is, the hardware devices that are in the end of the lifecycle are modified or replaced. If people cannot replace these devices due to lack of resources or for some reason, make sure they are properly maintained and maintained. This will have a significant impact on the overall use of energy.

One thing to consider is that these IT devices are equipped with a constant temperature fan control to ensure that the airflow of these fans has a path to the server that is not blocked, kept in the controlled temperature range, and improved operation efficiency. It is also necessary to keep the air intake grille clean and ensure that the accessories do not impede the airflow path, such as the cable management arm and rack PDU, to ensure the optimal operation of the data center.

Air Outlet of cooling equipment

Data Centers require cooling equipment to maintain optimal temperature levels. The usual air flow path is from an air-conditioning device to an IT device and then to an AC device.

Sometimes, the airflow may not follow this path. The airflow from the outlet may return to the input, which reduces the cooling efficiency and greatly reduces the cooling capability. Recycling (hot air from the IT device may find its way to the AC entry) is another possibility.

Keeping the hot air and cold air away from each other can effectively cool down and manage the airflow, saving costs. By blocking any unused space around the rack, there will be no hot air leaks from the rear of the rack to its front, and the rack with optimized hot/cold channels can prevent hot air leaks.

IT is very important that the hot air flow to every air-conditioning device. The IT equipment line should make the peripheral air-conditioning equipment concentrated at the end of the hot channel. If there are more hot channels than air-conditioning devices, you can place an empty rack at the end of the nearest air-conditioning device line to keep the hot air properly oriented without affecting device operations. In many cases, simple plastic curtains are used to further separate cold and hot air, ensuring that only cold air is supplied to the device, while hot air has a clear path to return to the air conditioning device.

The data center is not a cold storage

Now we know that the temperature of the data center is relatively low, but when the staff enter the data center, it should not feel like entering the cold storage. There are many reasons why the data center is too cold. For example, the data center does not effectively maintain the corresponding temperature according to the needs of the equipment. The temperature range supported by all major equipment manufacturers is recommended by the American Association of heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). The maximum temperature range of 77 ° F can bring good profit to enterprises, and saves considerable power costs.

Estimate Parameters

For example, when and how to plan and upgrade a data center, it will help technicians gain valuable insights on computing needs. Implementing a computational fluid dynamics model will help technicians estimate and predict cooling-related issues. Check the load rate on each server to accurately estimate costs and save energy.

Use PUE/DCIE

Energy efficiency helps people understand the energy efficiency of their data centers. Understanding PUE allows people to set goals and track efficiency indicators in data centers. Once the PUE value is determined, people can modify and upgrade the system and adopt energy-saving and cost-effective solutions.

The optimized data center ensures that the business of an enterprise runs like a running machine. It helps enterprises reduce capital expenditures and delay the need for device replacement. An effective data center is also a feasible way for enterprises to optimize and manage their operating environments.
