English Original: The only technique to learn Something New
Someone had stolen $90 million from a company I worked for. I don't quite know how to view people. The company finally closed down.
There are some things I just can't learn. I can easily believe a person.
So, no matter how I try, it's too hard to judge a person for me. So, I'm looking for someone who's good at it, and I've got them to help me.
Do not force yourself to learn things that you do not want or do not belong to your talents.
How big is the role of talent? Very small. But you need to get started from it. Talent is the seed of skill.
How do you know you have a gift in some way? When you are 10 years old, if you love it, if you dream of it, if you like to read this content. Keep reading the following and you'll find out where your talent is.
When I say, everyone has a gift in many ways. Please believe me.
In the past more than 20 years, I have been trying to learn something, and I hope to learn them well. Writing, programming, business skills (leadership, sales, negotiation and decision making, etc.), drama, games.
So, I specifically developed a 10-step learning approach.
1. Love what you learn
If you can't start with "love," then those who love them will conquer those who just "like" or "hate" them.
This is a rule of universal. The first person to start from Siberia until Alaska across the Arctic, even if it is 60 degrees below, he still loves what he does. Others may prefer to stay on the prairies of East Africa.
The first time I wrote the "Hello World" computer program, I dreamed about the computer. I got up 4 o'clock in the morning and went back to "computer lab" and wrote a more complicated program.
When I started writing the first day, I wrote all day. I can't stop. And, at that time, I just wanted to talk and communicate with all kinds of writers.
When I was only 10 years old, I wrote a column about my grade five classmates. I read Judy Blume's book every day. I read almost everything and I like writing too much.
Most of my friends think I'm boring, so I quickly get into a situation of loneliness. Of course, when writing is the exception.
2. Reading and related content
Bobby Fischer was not good at chess. He has a talent for this, but a lot of people don't think so.
So, when he was about 12-13 years old, he disappeared for a year.
When he was 13 years old, he appeared again, and all of a sudden, he became the best chess player in America and won the American Chess Championship. He became the youngest chess master in the world at the time.
How did he do that? In fact, in the whole year, he almost did not really underground chess.
Instead, he did only two things:
A) He studied all the chess games of the last century.
When he returned, he was very familiar with all the opening patterns, and he made the necessary improvements to these opening patterns. No one knows how to overcome these improvement patterns.
In fact, in the final of the World Championship in 1972, he and Spassky, Fischer won the world Championship by virtue of his 1800-generation weaponry.
Spassky must win the game to keep his title. Fischer must win the championship in order to get the title.
Spassky used a very modern offensive opening ("The Sicilian"), but after the next 13 steps, all commentators began to whisper.
Fischer deliberately made the start of an old-fashioned "the Scotch Game" mode. Since then, Spassky has never had a chance to win.
b) Fischer studied and learned about Russian chess players by reading Russian shogi magazines. At that time, the world chess ranked the top 20 Russian people. Americans have no chance at all.
While all the American chess players are studying the various openings that Russians already know, Fischer is studying the specific chess laws of the Russian people.
As a result, when Fischer won the U.S. championship, he became the first full-time player, not even a draw.
Studying history and studying the best chess players is the key to becoming the best chess player. Even when you start, you just have a little talent.
3, try, but not too hard
If you want to be a writer, a business elite, or a programmer, you have to write a lot of things, start many businesses, and write a lot of programs.
Failures or errors occur. This is why in the beginning, quantity is more important than quality.
Our learning curve is not based on what you have achieved, but on how much you are building.
If you see a thing 1000 times, you will be more knowledgeable than those who have only seen it 10 times.
Don't forget this important rule: The Secret of happiness is not in "achievement excellence", but in "growing up".
If you just "try" things within your power, growth will stop, and you won't feel happy or happy about it.
4, find a teacher (plus a 10 times times the speed rule)
If I try to learn Spanish by myself, I will lose my way. But when I walk out the door and meet some Argentines, I'll learn more.
In chess, writing, programming, business, and so on, I can always find someone better than me, and for that, I'll schedule a few times a week to ask them questions, ask them to give me some homework, help me find the error and tell me the exact details of the mistake.
For anything you love, finding a teacher can help you move at 10 times times the speed of efficiency.
In fact, everything I put on this list can make your learning go 10 times times faster. Therefore, if you apply each method of this list in your study, your learning efficiency will be 10 of the 10 of others.
This is the basic path to making your outstanding achievements in some way.
5, Learning history, learning now
If you want to be a good programmer, don't just be content with writing an application, you should learn machine language.
Learn 1 and 0, learn about the history of computers, learn how to design an operating system, learn a variety of programming languages, Fortran, cobol, pascal, lisp, C, C + + up to modern languages, such as Python.
If you want to improve your writing skills, read the excellent articles from 1800 onwards. Read the literary writings of Ernest Hemingway and Virginia Woolf, and even the "Beat Generation", reading works that stand the test of time.
They all went through the test of time. Compared with the other millions of books, they are the best literary works in the world.
Then, you need to study contemporary commentary and criticism of these books. The importance of doing so is as important as reading them.
If you want to learn business, read the biography of Lock Filler and Carnegie, learn about the first exchange established in Amsterdam, the 90 's junk bond bubble, the financial crisis, every recession. Every recession is the birthplace of another economic boom.
Read the book "from Zero to one" written by Peter Thille. Watch the "The Profit" column on CNBC TV online. Read the biography of Apple's founder Steve Jobs. Read "The end of power" to learn how Kodak is fading.
Don't read those self-help business books. They are of little value. You have entered a vast field-the field of innovation-an area created by modern society. Don't read the mediocre works just published last year.
Further, you can read some books about how to transform the world into today's form through innovation.
Read how Henry Ford started out with the founding of three auto companies and how to find the right path to development, and you need to know why "three" is an important figure for Henry Ford.
Read about why Rey Clark's skills have made the world's largest franchise chain catering business-McDonald's. Read how Coca-Cola has created the world's largest beverage company by not producing anything.
Keep a record of what you've learned from these readings.
6, first easy after difficult
Tony Robbins once told me about his first teaching experience, and he was even a little afraid of the job.
He had to teach a group of Marines to improve their shooting accuracy. "I've never shot a gun in my life," he said.
He had learned something from some of the professionals before, but soon he found a technique that led to an unprecedented level of shooting results for the trained Marines.
He just pulled the shooting target closer.
He put the target at a distance of just 5 feet. They all hit the bull's-eye. Then he will move a little further until the standard distance.
They all hit the bull's-eye.
Richard Branson started a magazine before he started the airline. Bill Gates writes the first Basic language and compiler himself before the entire team is engaged in Windows development.
Stephanie Mayer (yes, I included her) wrote "Twilight," and before that, she had written a book called "Level 50 grayscale".
In the early days, Hemingway never dreamed of becoming a novelist. So, he just wrote some little stories.
Programmers write the "Hello World" program before they start designing the first search engine.
Many chess masters will recommend you to learn chess pieces (only a few pieces) before you start to learn chess.
Doing so will give you confidence and will give you subtle hints that will give you a strong sense of growth and improvement.
7. Review what you have learned
One day, I threw away almost everything I had. All that stuff. I threw away all my books (donated). I threw away all my clothes.
I threw away those old computers. I threw away the plates that I never used. I threw away the shirts I thought I wouldn't have the chance to wear. I threw away all my furniture, paper and other stuff.
I want to have a cleaning. That's what I did.
I found a novel I wrote in 1991. 24 ago. It's horrible.
For the first time in 24 years, I reread the novel. I know where it went wrong (the characters are irrelevant.) The story is too obvious to portray. The climax of the story takes place at the same place).
I was told a story about Amy Schumer (one of my favorite comedians). She recorded all her performances.
Then she returned home, carefully studying her own performance, one second after another. "I should have stayed in this action for one-fourth seconds. ”
She wants to be the best comedian. She studied every performance of her own.
When I play chess, if I lose a game, I will keep the chess in the computer. Afterwards, I'll look at every move I've played and computer tips. I would think about what I was thinking when I was chess, and all that stuff.
A project I recently invested in has failed. For me, I feel terrible. But anyway, I had to work out where I was wrong. Where I make the mistake. At all levels, I have made the necessary reflections and recorded them at the end.
If you can't indulge in your own mistakes, it may indicate that you are not passionate about this field.
You shouldn't ask yourself such a question, "What am I good at?" Instead, you should ask yourself: "What do I do wrong and how should I improve?" ”
As you continue to ask yourself a better question, you will become more superior to those who ask only their own bad questions.
Example: I hate to see my own performance on TV. So I can't do better in the performance.
8, you are the average of your best 5 friends
Look at every culture, art and business scene. Few people can stand out as individuals, and they tend to be prominent as a group.
The Fallen Generation (literature): Jack Kerouac, Fort Allen Ginsberg, William Boros and others.
Technology and programming: Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Tedle Ancisse, Paul Allen, Steve Wozniak and other wine club members.
50 Art: Jasper Johns, de Kooning, Pollack and all those who were in New York's Sesame Street.
Youtube, linkedin, tesla, palantir and so on all these are called "PayPal Gang" members.
None of these people exist alone. Man is a tribe-based social animal. We need to work with groups to get a bigger boost.
Find these best groups, spend as much time with them as you can, and you will become as good as they are.
Each of you challenges each other, competes with each other, loves and appreciates each other's work, and even envies each other, and eventually you will all surpass each other.
9. The more
Perseverance is more important than the occasional.
I used to have a friend who always wanted to improve on painting. But she thought she should go to Paris, because the atmosphere was more suitable.
Her trip to Paris has not been able to take place. She is sitting in a cubicle with fluorescent lamps filling out various reports, and some boring paperwork.
Write every day, socialize every day, entertain every day, and live a healthy life every day.
Please measure your life according to the amount of things you do.
10. Find your own Devil's plan
The student finally realizes beyond becoming a master.
The first hedge fund manager I've worked for has now hated me very much. When I started my own fund, his fund was going to be knocked out. My Devil's plan finally came to be more effective than his.
However, since then, I will find my own voice. And when you speak in this voice, the world presents a new atmosphere.
Your teachers and friends may not want to hear this sound. But if you can continue to surround yourself with people who love and respect you, they will continue to encourage you to make that sound.
There is a saying, "There is no new ideas." But there is.
If you can merge the thoughts or ideas you already have, you are the beautiful butterfly.
"Reprint" The only way to learn new things
