ERP: enterprise resources planning, enterprise resource planning.
In April 12, 1990, Gartner Group published the question ERP: the next-generation mrp ii (ERP: A vision of the next-generation mrp ii. wylie's research report. This is the first ERP concept. This report mentions two integrations, that is, the core of ERP and the necessary condition for "managing the entire supply chain". This is internal integration and external integration.
(1) internal integration: integrates product R & D, core business, and data collection.
(2) external integration-Integration of enterprises with all partners on the supply chain.
Gartner Group then published a series of analysis and research reports. In combination with these documents, Gartner Group initially defined ERP in a concise manner as follows.
ERP is the next generation of mrp ii (Manufacturing Resources Planning, manufacturing resource planning). Its connotation is mainly to "break the four walls of the enterprise and expand the scope of information integration to the upstream and downstream of the enterprise, manages the entire supply chain to implement supply chain manufacturing ". In other words, ERP is a system for exchanging and sharing information between all internal business departments of an enterprise and between the enterprise and external partners. It is an integrated supply chain management tool, technology, and application system, it is an indispensable means for management decision-making and supply chain process optimization, and a synonym for achieving competitive advantages.
