Recommendation of front-end learning books

I often encounter a friend asking me how to learn and what books to read. I also hope to spread some of my learning experiences and experiences to beginners. with the attitude of being responsible to beginners, how to learn the front-end, I still need to write it after I have a mature Foundation. This article is based on the books I have read during my learning process, summarize the selection of books at various stages of front-end learning.
Selection of HTML and CSS phases
For beginners, this stage should be the study of XHTML and css2. at the early stage of study, we suggest you read two more books: "authoritative CSS Guide" and "CSS things". After you have a certain CSS foundation, you can see "proficient in CSS: advanced Web standard solutions". you may ask why there are no books for HTML learning. In my personal position, W3C online tutorials or HTML manuals are your best entry books before you enter the system. you do not need to know much about HTML in the early stage. simply put, you can know where to use the HTML Tag. if you want to make it simpler, you can find an HTML Tag summary table to write down the corresponding tag (refer to the HTML technique: semantics of the appendix in your code ).
For CSS and getting started, a css2.0 manual and 3C online tutorials are also your preferred method for getting started. after getting started, I highly recommend you to buy a CSS authoritative guide. The latest version of this book has reached the third edition. it can be used as a reference book or a book that systematically learns css2.0. when should I read this book? You need to understand the most basic things of CSS. the biggest advantage of this book is its thorough understanding (how important it is for beginners), comprehensive knowledge systems, and reasonable distribution of chapters. after you read this book carefully, your CSS level must be greatly improved. during this period, you can also buy a "CSS things" as a practical book. I have always believed that any technology is written by myself. Code Practice is always the top priority. after having a basic understanding of CSS and some project experience, I can start to read the book "proficient in CSS: advanced Web standard solutions". This book is concise (I am reading the first version, it is said that the second version of the translation is poor). There are many practical project skills in it, and there is a full chapter of common bug search and repair. There are two examples at the end of the book, it is a very good advanced book.
JavaScript and JS library Learning
The first choice for getting started with native JavaScript, of course, is the art of Javascript DOM programming, which is undoubtedly a classic. I have read at least three complete articles, each of which has a different effect. it is easy to understand and express smoothly. The author has been using a simple text to describe a very obscure theory for beginners. It also provides complete and not complex examples. as long as you read it carefully, you will probably know what Javascript is like. after reading the Javascript DOM programming art, many people recommend reading the Javascript authoritative guide. I personally think it is inappropriate. Program For beginners, this book can be easily read, but it is undoubtedly a great setback for beginners. This book covers a wide range of topics, it is indeed a good book, but it was only a tool book in the early stage. if you want to learn English, you can get an Oxford dictionary. my personal recommendation is that, after learning about the art of Javascript DOM programming (at least you can do it independently for the instances in it and know why), I will spend one or two months practicing Js, after accumulating some knowledge, you can start reading "proficient in JavaScript". This is an advanced and practical book. The author is John resig, the father of jquery, the book introduces and demonstrates a lot of lightweight function functions, and provides a detailed explanation of the implementation principles (the source code comments of the example in the book are also translated into Chinese, this translation is very thoughtful ). before this book, PPK's book about Javascript is also worth reading, but I personally think it makes me very uncomfortable to read. the book is based on nine examples. It provides an excellent explanation of the availability and accessibility of JS, but the author disconnects all examples, I feel very disorganized. Sometimes I have to go to the front to find the corresponding content. therefore, you can choose whether to read this book based on your actual situation. after reading the previous books, you can look back at the Javascript authoritative guide, which will be a good choice.
After reading and understanding all the books above, native Javascript is a beginner and has some skill. You may need to practice and understand it later, what kind of books should I read later? I believe I have a general direction.
After learning native JavaScript, I will try again later. the purpose of the library is to make it easier for us to use JS, but native JS is fundamental. If you rely too much on the library and ignore native JS, you will always just know it, but you do not know why. native JS and libraries should complement each other. Therefore, before learning a library, you must have a certain understanding of native JS and spend more time learning native JS than learning the library. because I am only familiar with the jquery library, this article only recommends a jquery library learning book: Sharp jquery. this is a simple book about jquery that tells readers more easily. The content in this book can be found through the jquery API, but the author uses a more straightforward language to describe it, supplemented by examples, clear and easy to understand. after reading this book with a little effort and writing the example in the book, jquery is basically enough.
HTML5 and css3
Currently, there are no more books to choose from besides APIs for HTML5 and css3 learning. I recently read the "HTML 5 User Guide". This book gives a clear explanation of HTML5's new tags and new features, but now I have read the first seven chapters (a total of ten chapters), I feel that this book is worth reading. as for css3, no corresponding books have been found except for the API.
Other Web Front-end knowledge learning
The front-end is specialized in multiple fields. The front-end not only requires HTML, CSS, and JS, but also comprehensive knowledge, such as user experience, search optimization, you must have a certain understanding of background languages. in fact, I have read less books in this area. I am more interested in related knowledge on the Internet and understand and digest it myself.
Here I only recommend two books, "elements of user experience" and "Web Front-end development practices", which are optional.
"Elements of user experience" is a theoretical book without code, but it is not boring. the book tells you the idea of user experience, so this is not a book with answers. it can be said that this book has a deep understanding of user experience.
The book "Web Front-end development practices" is an advanced book with Advanced Front-end experience. It is a blessing. Some of the books in this article are useful, but there are also many places I think it is a bad habit. for example, the book is too modular about CSS. For example, there is no comment for the example of Javascript in chapter 5. therefore, exercise caution before choosing this book. in the reading process, you must have your own opinions, extract the essence, and discard the dregs.
