I have learned about some Linux application software in the community and IRC since I used ubuntu8.10, and now I am recording it here for future convenience:
I. Tilda yakuake
Tilda can be used for GNOME and xfce desktops, while yakuake is mainly used for KDE desktops. Tilda and
Yakuake is very similar. In addition to the features inherent in the terminal program, it also has its own features. In my opinion, these special features are really cool:
* Hotkey control. This allows you to use the explicit function, so it is very convenient to hide the function. I used
Gnome terminal, or rxvt-Unicode, both need to use alt-tab to switch, far less flexible than the control of such hot keys.
* Can be embedded into the desktop. I used to allow other terminal programs to achieve the same purpose, but often cannot achieve it directly. Third-party tools are needed. Both Tilda and yakuake can be directly embedded into the desktop.
* The background is transparent. This feature, together with the previous feature, enables your terminal to be integrated with the entire desktop.
* Animation effect. It has an animated effect when displaying or hiding the terminal window. I think this will make people feel smoother and more natural, instead of suddenly popping up to scare people.
* The tag function is available. This eliminates the need to start multiple terminal instance programs at the same time. If it is not enough, open the tag again. However, I prefer to work with screen now.
* Customization. You can customize the window size and position to meet your individual needs.
Ii. freemind
Project and (with Deb package): freemind project home page http://freemind.sourceforge.net/
Mindmap: Mind Map, a way of organizing ideas: Clear clues in a tree structure.
Freemind is a free desktop drawing tool dedicated to painting mindmap.
Many online users say that the "Preferences" in the menu cannot be opened. 0.8.0 has this problem, but now the official website has reached 0.8.1 and jre1.6 can be installed normally!
Because this package is not in the source, only download and installation is required, and a few packages are prompted. It doesn't matter. If you double-click to open these packages, the system will automatically prompt you to drop those packages!
