Recover the system with the "Automatic System Recovery" provided by Win XP"

A serious problem occurred in the Windows XP system used by my colleague Mr. Wang. You need to reinstall the Windows XP system. This can break down the system. reinstalling the system means not only re-installing all the system upgrade patches, but also re-installing all the software. Isn't it a waste of time?

In fact, Windows XP users do not need to be so tedious to restore their computer systems as long as they do a good job of prevention in advance. Because the Windows XP system has a powerful tool for restoring the system-"Automatic System Recovery"Program(Automatic System Recovery ASR ). It can completely restore the Windows XP system to its original appearance, including various system configurations and installed software. Let's use the new software in Windows XP!

I. Basics-system prerequisites

First, the hard disk on the computer is divided into at least two partitions, and there is sufficient space on non-system partitions (such as D or E disks), which will be used to store backup files. The size of the backup file depends on the size of your system file and the installed program, generally 2 GB ~ 3 GB. In addition, we need a blank and formatted floppy disk and a Windows XP installation disk.

Ii. Backup-Prepare for "Automatic System Recovery"

Automatic System Recovery relies entirely on system backup files to restore the computer system to its original appearance. Therefore, backing up system files is our most important preparation work.

Click Start and select Programs> attachments> System Tools> Backup ". A "backup or restore wizard" window appears. Click "Advanced Mode" to bring up the "backup Tools" window. Select the "Automatic System Recovery wizard" button, the "automatic system fault recovery preparation wizard" appears. When the dialog box asks "where to save the system backup", change the path of the backup file from default disk A to disk D or other partitions, the file name can be changed to the date of the current day, so that you can know when the backup file was created during future recovery. After the configuration is complete, insert the floppy disk into the floppy disk and continue the subsequent operations to complete the backup.

After the backup is complete, you need to save the ASR floppy disk and the system backup file, because in the future restoration, there will be no less than either of these two items.

3. Restore-you have an identical system

If a serious problem occurs in the system and the problem persists after repair, it is best to restore the system using "Automatic System Recovery.

First, start the computer from the CD, insert the ASR floppy disk into the soft drive, and press F2 when the system enters the CD installation program. During the restoration process, the program will automatically delete and format the original system partition (this is why the backup file is not stored in the system partition), and then install the operating system, finally, the original system files and program files will be extracted and restored from the backup files.
