RedHat and Microsoft reach cooperation intention in the virtualization Field
Red Hat and Microsoft have reached a cooperation intention on their respective virtual servers to support their users, and will also provide the same technical support.
Mike Evans, vice president of RedHat, said more and more enterprises are deploying real and virtual solutions in heterogeneous environments. "This includes a hybrid environment of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows server ", this situation forces RedHat to cooperate with Microsoft, which means:
- Red Hat needs to support Windows Server users in Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Technology.
- Microsoft needs to support Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server users on Windows Server hyper-V and Microsoft hyper-V server.
- Once each other completes the test, legal users will receive the same technical support from both parties: run the Windows server operating system on Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and Red Hat Enterprise Linux on Windows Server hyper-V and Microsoft hyper-V server.
According to Mike Neil, general manager of Microsoft's virtualization strategy, Microsoft admitted that its customers also expressed great interest in Linux:
More and more customers are using Windows Server 2008 hyper-V because they want to run more operating systems on hyper-V in their own virtual environments, it also includes the Red Hat system.
This cooperation intention will have a great impact on customers, according to Gary Chen, IDC's Research Manager: "A Research in IDC shows that windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux are the two most important operating environments used by enterprises, occupying 80% of the x86 operating systems ".
