Remote payment technical solution

Remote payment refers to the payment method in which a user and a merchant do not need to interact face-to-face, but use a mobile terminal to interact with the backend server through a wireless communication network, and the server end completes transaction processing.

Based on the technology used, the remote payment technical solution mainly includes four technical solutions: SMS payment, client (no card) payment, smart card payment, and smart terminal peripheral payment.

◎ SMS payment: refers to the payment service completed by users by editing and sending text messages.

Client (no-card) payment: refers to the service for users to complete payment through the interaction between the Internet and the payment platform through a mobile Internet browser or client.

◎ Smart card payment: a remote payment service that performs security authentication by using a smart card that stores payment data. The smart card in this chapter refers to the integrated circuit card that integrates secure computing units and secure storage, including SIM/uimcard, SD card, and mobile phone built-in se.

◎ Mobile terminal peripheral payment: refers to the payment by swiping the card through external devices of the mobile terminal.

SMS Payment Technology 1. Implementation Solution

In the text message payment transaction process, the text message instruction containing the payment information is sent from the user's mobile terminal (generally a mobile phone) to the text message processing platform. After identification, review, and exchange, the payment information is forwarded to the mobile payment access platform and the Account Management System to complete related services.

The technical architecture of SMS payment is very simple. The SMS processing platform interacts with the mobile payment access platform to complete payment processing, as shown in Figure 11-1. The text message processing platform is established and managed by mobile operators and forwards messages between mobile terminals and mobile payment access platforms in the agreed format. To ensure the security of SMS payment, the transmission of SMS should adopt a robust communication transmission protocol to ensure the transmission reliability. Moreover, the account, password, and other sensitive data cannot appear simultaneously in a text message.

 

2. Technical Features

The Short Message payment solution is simple, convenient, and easy to use. In addition, the existing mobile phone and communication network environments can be implemented without any transformation, and the Business implementation cost is low. However, the SMS payment solution does not provide a good user interaction experience and cannot ensure reliable transmission of SMS messages. Therefore, it is difficult to carry the payment services that require complex interaction.

3. Typical business

The typical short message payment business includes the mobile phone payment business launched by Shanghai Telecom and the M-PESA business launched by Kenya telecom operator.

In the mobile payment service launched by Shanghai Telecom, users first bind their mobile phone numbers with a payment account (such as Alipay) and apply for the mobile payment function for the services to be paid. After the business bill is generated every month, the system sends the bill information (including the bar code number and amount) to the user. the user can edit and send a text message to a specific payment service access number to initiate a mobile payment. The specific process is as follows.

M-PESA in Kenya's local swash language, is the meaning of "mobile currency, m-PESA is Kenya telecom operator Safaricom launched the world's first independent development and operation by mobile operators, traditional commercial banks do not participate in the operation of the new mobile banking business. M-PESA is a virtual electronic currency, the user opened the M-PESA business, only need to send text messages to complete the transfer, and the payer and the recipient do not require a bank account, the recipient can exchange cash at the M-PESA agent point with the receipt of the transfer SMS.

 

Client Payment Technology 1. Implementation Solution

Client payment means that a user uses a mobile terminal and the mobile client software accepts the user's payment request and sends the payment request to the background server through the mobile Internet, the Account Management System transfers funds and notifies mobile terminals and service providers of the operation results to complete the payment. The entire process is completed online without the participation of other on-site acceptance terminals. The application system architecture of client payment is 11-3.

2. Technical classification

Client software can be divided into two types: browser and dedicated client. Therefore, client payment can also be divided into browser payment and dedicated client payment.

Browser payment: refers to the technology in which a user connects to the mobile Internet through a browser of a mobile terminal and interacts with the mobile payment access platform and the payment content platform to complete the payment. You do not need to install the client software for browser payment. You can use the browser or two-factor authentication method to complete the payment.

Dedicated client payment: this refers to the technology by which a user connects to the mobile Internet and interacts with the mobile payment access platform and the payment content platform to complete the payment. Dedicated client payment is specially designed for certain types of payment services. It features powerful functions, flexible processes, good user experience, and end-to-end encryption.

3. Typical business

A typical client payment business involves the Client Version of mobile banking, such as the Client Version of mobile banking launched by China Merchants Bank.

Users of China Merchants Bank can download and install the mobile banking client of China Merchants Bank on smartphones or tablets such as iPhone and Android. After logging in with a bank card or credit card account, various financial applications such as bank account query, transfer and remittance, credit card repayment, top-up payment, purchase/redemption fund, and financial management products are available, realizing the "mobile Internet era, with banks ".

China Merchants Bank Client Version mobile banking has the following features.

◎ Account Management: provides functions such as account balance query, transaction record query, password management, loss reporting, ATM/POS/online banking quota management for China Merchants Bank Card and credit card.

◎ In-card transfer: transfers between accounts registered by China Merchants Bank. Registered accounts include one card, credit card, and passbook accounts. regular transfer of one card accounts of China Merchants Bank is achieved.

◎ Investment Management: realize fund query, fund purchase/redemption, management of financial accounts, securities quotations, entrusted financial purchase/redemption, bank card transfer, physical gold transactions, deferred gold transactions, gold quotations query, capital stock positions query, Commission/deal query, gold account opening, gold account transfer, customer information modification, account password modification/reset, transaction account change, etc.

◎ Transfer and remittance: implements various types of transfer and remittance services, including transferring funds to the same city, transferring funds to other cities, transferring money to other cities, and transferring money to other cities, mobile phone number transfer, payee information management, transfer payment function application, transaction query, etc.

◎ One-card/credit card self-payment: The Mobile Phone Fee, telephone fee, and other payment functions are implemented.

◎ Foreign Exchange Management: implements foreign exchange purchasing and foreign exchange settlement functions.

◎ Credit Card Management: provides functions such as credit card quota management, transaction details query, repayment settings, and credit management.
