Research and analysis on usability and user experience of web site

Web usability is about how much time it can save users. The higher the usability of the site, the higher the user experience, and the more time the user will stay on the site. When an inexperienced user accesses an internal page through a deep link to your site, they spend an average of 60 seconds there for the first time, while experienced users spend 45 seconds on their first visit to an internal page.

One of the main reasons for supporting deep links is that users are more likely to read the content on the internal pages of the site than the home page.

We see the same thing with the internal pages and the home page: As experience increases, people scan the page faster for the first time and decide what they want to do on the site more quickly. When users enter an internal page, they spend 70%~80% more time looking at where they enter the site, because the internal pages they visit are more directly related to their tasks than when they enter a homepage.

Now that users spend 45-60 seconds on an internal page, they may be able to read about 200 words in theory, but usually they will use part of the time to evaluate the navigation system of the site and decide where to go next. However, they may still be able to read 1, 00 words, which is quite a bit more than just 1 o~2n of small words when they enter the home page. One of the main reasons to support deep links is that users will read more on the internal pages of the site.

Comparison of home and internal pages

People spend more time on internal pages than on the home page. Again, users with more web-use experience can scan the screen faster, and novice users tend to watch the screen very carefully.

When a user browses to a Web site and accesses its internal pages, they spend an average of 27 seconds on each page. This very short time highlights the importance of the following design points: On each page, the user wants to get what they want to express as clear as crystal. People don't have time to read all the content, so they will be able to judge the page in a few seconds.

Design tip: Optimize the links on the internal page

For about half a minute on an internal page, the user spends most of it on the content area, not the navigation area. Important links should be placed in this area so that users are likely to see them.
