At present, many lan units use the domain mode. In domain operations, joining and downgrading a domain is undoubtedly the most common and the most likely link to failures. The following two faults are the most common problems encountered by users. Let's take a look at how to solve them.
Domain addition problem: Computer B can be successfully added to the master domain computer A as an additional domain controller, but it is found that computer B's computer name is incomplete and the computer name is not followed by A domain name ).

Solution: Modify the Registry as follows:

Open the registry and find the following primary key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Tcpip \ Parameters

Find the NV Domain key value in Parameters. At this time, the numeric data of this key value must be blank. Double-click the NV Domain key to enter the Domain Name of the master Domain computer, save the data, and restart the computer, solve the problem.

Upgrading/downgrading problem: a remote domain controller computer B in the domain controller prompts that the downgrade fails.

Solution:

Method 1: manually delete all information containing computer B on the DNS console of the primary domain controller, and then run the dcpromo command on computer B to downgrade.

If this still does not work, you can only use method 2.

Method 2: Force Delete the domain controller.

1. Restart computer B and press F8 to enter "directory service recovery mode ".

2. Enter regedit in the command line to open the Registry Editor.

3. Find the following key values:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Product Options

Key Value: ProductType type: REG_SZ

4. Change the original value "LanmanNT" to "ServerNT ".

5. Delete the folder that stores the Active Directory database. The default value is C \ inNT \ NTDS ).

6. restart the computer.

7. because some registry key values and files exist as domain controllers, after restarting the computer, you also need to use the dcpromo command to upgrade computer B to a temporary Domain Controller domain name can be filled in at will), and then use the dcpromo command to downgrade, in this way, all registry key values and files related to the domain controller will be completely deleted.

Note: If you want to add computer B to the original domain to become an extra-Domain Controller, it is best to rename computer B and then add it as a domain controller to the original domain. Otherwise, you need to manually delete all information left in the original domain, that is, data in Active Directory ).
