RHEL5 Telnet Service installation configuration

Install package:
RPM-IVH xinetd-2.3.14-10.el5.x86_64.rpm
RPM-IVH telnet-0.17-39.el5.x86_64.rpm
RPM-IVH telnet-server-0.17-39.el5.x86_64.rpm
To configure the service:
chkconfig--list | grep telnet
View the service status of the Telnet krb5-telnet ekrb5-telnet to ensure that Telnet krb5-telnet Two services are turned on. You can turn it on by using the following command. You can also modify the/etc/xinetd.d/xxx file implementation.
Where ekrb5-telnet can be used to provide an encrypted Telnet service, but if the Ekrb5-telnet service is enabled but there is no Kerberos server, then a telnet login prompts unencrypted connection Refused. Goodbye.connection closed by foreign host. And disconnect from the connection.
Chkconfig--level telnet on
Chkconfig--level krb5-telnet on
Chkconfig--level ekrb5-telnet off
If you need root remote logins, you need to add TTY to the Securetty.
# Vi/etc/securetty
Add Pts/1 ... pts/6
Start the XINETD service.
/etc/init.d/xinetd Restart
Test:
# telnet 127.0.0.1
