Routing fault guide: hub faults caused by hardware and software

Users who use hubs have encountered many hub faults, and both hardware and software may cause faults. The following describes these problems in detail. It is not difficult to build a local network. Hardware faults　

Hardware-caused hub faults mainly include Nic faults, incorrect Nic installation, Nic faults, and hub faults. First, check whether the indicator on the side of the NIC inserted in the I/O slot of the computer is normal. Generally, the NIC has two indicators: "connection indicator" and "signal transmission indicator ", under normal circumstances, the "connection indicator" should be always on, while the "signal transmission indicator" should not stop flashing during signal transmission. If the "connection indicator light" is not on, you should consider the connection failure, that is, whether the NIC itself is normal, whether the installation is correct, and whether the network cable or hub is faulty. Let's take a look at the NIC appearance:

1. RJ45 connector Problems　

RJ45 connectors are prone to failures. For example, the head of the twisted pair is not topped by the RJ45 connector, the twisted pair is not pressed into the connector according to the standard position, or even the connector specifications are inconsistent or the internal twisted pair is broken. The impact of the thickness of the gold plating layer on the quality of the connector is also considerable. For example, if the plating is too thin, the network cable may be worn out after three or five times of plugging and then oxidized, of course, it is also prone to disconnection.

2. Wiring failure or poor contact　

Generally can observe the following places: twisted pair wire color and RJ-45 connector feet are consistent; wire head whether to pin to the top of the RJ-45 connector, if not, the line of contact will be poor. press again; observe the side of the RJ-45. Has the metal slice been inserted into the twisted pair? If no, it is very likely that the line is disconnected. Check whether the wire is cut off when the outer skin of the twisted pair wires is removed (the copper wire in the twisted pair wires is broken but the skin is not broken ).

If no problem can be found, we can use a replacement method to eliminate network cable and hub faults, that is, use the network cable of a computer that communicates normally to connect to the faulty machine. If normal communication works, it is obviously a network cable or hub fault, switch the hub port to identify whether the network cable or the hub is faulty. In many cases, the hub indicator can also indicate whether the hub is faulty. Normally, the corresponding port light should be on.

Software faults

If the NIC signal transmission indicator light is not on, this is generally caused by a hub failure caused by network software.

Check Nic settings

The driver disk of a common Nic is mostly accompanied by programs that test and set Nic parameters. Check the connection type, IRQ, I/O port address, and other parameters set by the Network Adapter. If there is a conflict, you only need to reset the settings (some must adjust the jumper), the network can generally be restored to normal. In addition, check whether the NIC Driver is properly installed. The drivers used by different NICs are also different. If you choose the wrong one, incompatibility may occur. It is not difficult to fix the problem. You only need to find the correct driver and reinstall it.
