Schematic RHEL6 installation process

Note:

This is a demonstration of the Rhel-server 6.2 64-bit system installation.

First, install Rhel-server 6.2

Booting the system with rhel-6.2 disc, the following interface will appear

Install or upgrade anexisting system: New Installation or update of an existing RHEL systems.

Install system with basic video driver: Use the most basic graphics driver for installing the OS (Select this option does not affect the installation process, but the resolution will be relatively low)

Rescue Installed system: Enter rescue mode.

Boot from local drive: direct booting of the system in the local drives (hard disk).

We select the first item, enter, start the installation

The system will be prompted to detect the installation media , to prevent the installation process due to physical damage to the media and other issues caused by the installation failure. Selecting OK will start the detection of the media,

We chose skip to skip directly. (Note: The window detected by this media will not appear in the network boot).

We choose Simplified Chinese or English, if you choose Simplified Chinese, then the entire installation process will be the Chinese interface. Here we choose the default English

Click Next

Choose the type of keyboard, we use the American QWERTY keyboard, so keep the default u.s.english. Click Next

Basic Storage Devices: Base storage device, install the system on a local disk drive (hard disk).

Specialized Storage Devices: Install or update storage area networks on enterprise-level storage, for example.

Generally choose the default first item, Next continues.

Warning all disk drives will be initialized and data will be lost. Select re-initalize All

Set the host name, and click Configure Network to configure the static IP.

Configure the network as shown. The default is not configured to use DHCP to obtain automatically. After clicking Apply, close the Network Configuration window and continue to click Next Next

Select the time zone as Asia/Shanghai. If the Windows/linux dual system is installed, the system clock uses UTC can be removed to avoid windowns time being displayed as GMT, which is 8 hours later than Beijing time.

Set the password for the root account, for security reasons, please set the password as complex as possible, enter two times the same password, click Next to continue.

Select a partition scheme

Use all space: Delete all existing partitions, including EXT2/EXT3/EXT4, swap, FAT, NTFS, and so on. and execute the default installation policy.

Replace Existing Linuxsystem (s): Delete only the partitions of the Linux file system, preserving FAP, NTFS. and execute the default installation policy.

Shrink Current System: Reduces the existing partition size and executes the default installation policy.

Use free space: Executes the default installation policy using the remaining unallocated spaces.

Create Custom Layout: Customize the partitioning policy.

The default installation policy:

1. Separate partition to mount to/boot directory

2. Then create a swap partition, typically 1.5 times or twice times of memory

3, the remaining space to all/partition

We select the last item, customize, and then next.

Select Stanard Partition. Click Create

Partition in the same way, a 1024M size swap partition and all the remaining space to be allocated/partitioned

Another warning, unlike RHEL5, the partitioning operation will now take effect directly and the data will be lost. Click Write changes to disk

When installing the operating system, which packages are installed, build beginners Choose Desktop, then select Customize now and click Next.

The installation process is complete, click Reboot, restart the computer
