1 What Is Software Configuration Management )?
Software Configuration Management refers to implementing version control, change control procedures, and using appropriate configuration management software to ensure the integrity and traceability of all configuration items. Configuration Management is an effective protection of work results.
It is used to solve various problems encountered during the development process but during version updates, for example, the latest version cannot be found due to too many versions, the time caused by operations on a file by multiple users, space conflicts, accidental deletion of programs, and reasons for modifying the modified files, in addition, development cannot be traced back to a previous stage. People create folders to manage them early, which is a waste of space and inefficient.
Through software configuration software, these problems can be solved in a centralized manner to make development more efficient. This is also the reason why SCM systems are gradually formed and popular.
2 Software Configuration Management specifications
The software development and management process produces a lot of work results, such as documents, procedures and data, which should be kept properly for access and modification. It is very troublesome to use all files in a computer.
All work results included in the configuration management scope are collectively referred to as configuration items. There are two main types of configuration items: one is part of the product, such as requirement documents, design documents, source code, test cases, and so on; the other is the documents generated during the management process, such as various plans and reports.
The main attributes of each configuration item include name, identifier, File status, version, author, date, and so on. Configuration items and historical records reflect the software evolution process.
A baseline consists of a set of configuration items that constitute a relatively stable logical entity. After the configuration items in the baseline are frozen, they cannot be changed at will by anyone. Baselines usually correspond to milestones in the development process. Generally, the baseline delivered to this customer is called a release, and the baseline used for internal development is called a build.
3. the SCM system focuses on applications. Some early-rising software, such as SCCs, codemar, teamware, and RCS, are not described in detail here. They gradually expose some shortcomings during use, it is no longer popular. Currently, CVs and SVN are widely used.
They are all good Software Configuration Management Systems. SVN is an open-source version control system that records all file version modifications. CVS is also a version control system, but now most people use SVN, because SVN not only inherits the advantages of CVs, but also has many features that CVS does not possess, for example, when a logo is created and dubious is a branch, it is widely used and gradually replaces CVs.
We need to install a server and client software using it. We recommend that you use two subvision servers. The client is tortoisesvn, and tortoisesvn is just a graphical operation interface of SVN, you can build a powerful SVN server. In addition, there is a visual svn-server and visual SVN, which are servers and clients respectively.
This is the visual svn-server interface:
Tortoisesvn Official Website: http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads.html
Subversion official website (the latest version is now 1.7.4): http://subversion.apache.org/
You can also leave a message. I will send the setup to you.
