Secrets Win8 computer OEM partition Creation

Currently, most of the computers pre-installed with Win8 use the new UEFI firmware + GPT format disk, and are no longer like the previous BIOS + MBR. UEFI and GPT have many advantages, such as more new features such as secure startup, more hard disk partitions, and larger partition capacity.
Brands such as Dell have diagnostic tools that can run before the system is started. In fact, these tools are often stored in a hidden OEM partition on the hard disk. If you accidentally delete the partition when you reinstall the system, how can you restore the OEM hidden attribute of the partition even if you copy the program file from another place?
For hard disks in MBR format, we can find the solution through Baidu search. However, there is no effective solution on the network for hard disks in GPT format. In the following article, I will reveal how to apply OEM partition attributes to GPT hard disks.
Let's take a quick look at how to set up an OEM partition on an MBR Disk: In the diskpart command, Run "create partition primary id = XX size = xx" on the selected partition, the ID identifies the OEM. For example, id = de indicates to Windows that it is a Dell OEM partition. For more vendor code instructions, run the "Help create par pri" command to learn about it:
What about GPT disks?
Of course, the above command is no longer applicable. As I said on the internet, I can only use some "one-click recovery" software from the OEM to completely format and restore the disk partition, or use ghost to reload the previous hard disk backup? Some answers from foreign forums also indicate that you have to contact the OEM to recover. In fact, the answer is that we can also set it ourselves, and we also use the tool that comes with the diskpart system, but it is easy to be ignored.
In the new version of diskpart, a command is "GPT ". With this command and the corresponding partition property code, you can easily set its attributes. For example, if you need to set the OEM partition attribute so that Windows can automatically hide the partition, after creating a primary partition (create par pri size = xxx, run "GPT attributes = 0x0000000000000001" to set it as an OEM partition.
What does 0x00000000000000000001 mean? Run "Help GPT" to view the details:
Here, in addition to using the 0x0000000000000001 attribute to set a primary partition as an OEM partition, we can also use other code to apply other attributes to the partition:
64-bit ID |
Effect |
Zero X 0000000000000001 |
Mark this partition as required partition/set OEM |
Zero X 8000000000000000 |
If it is set to no drive letter is assigned to it by default |
Zero X 4000000000000000 |
Hide volume partitions (not detected by the Mount Manager) |
Zero X 2000000000000000 |
Declare the partition as a shadow copy of another partition |
Zero X 1000000000000000 |
Set to read-only to prevent Data Writing |
To cancel an applied attribute, you only need to add a minus sign "-" before the property ID in the <64-bit property ID> command of GPT "-". It is not ruled out that Microsoft will add more new attributes for the GPT disk in the next version of Windows.
