Using the "to show precision" option results in cumulative calculation effects, making your data less accurate over time. You can use this option only if you are sure that the display precision will keep the data accurate.
1, click the Office Button image, and then click Excel Options.
2, click Advanced, and then under Calculate this workbook, select the Set precision to display check box, and then click OK.
3, and then click OK.
4, in the worksheet, select the cells you want to format.
5, on the Start tab, click the Dialog Box Launcher button image next to number. As shown in the following figure.

6, in the Category box, click Number.
7, in the Decimal places box, enter the number of decimal places you want to display.
Tip To minimize the impact of floating-point algorithm cumulative errors, you can also use the ROUND function to round a number to the number of decimal places you want to compute.
