Optical fiber users reach 70%

Previously, Shanghai Telecom held a press conference to announce that it will start the fifth round of broadband acceleration in March 1, including the minimum rate of 10 m after the change of copper wires to optical fiber for domestic users, when the line is reachable, the speed can be increased to the maximum speed of 6 M for free.

It is reported that optical fiber accounts for 70% of broadband users, and 10 m or above accounts for 70% of home broadband users. Shanghai Telecom's average access bandwidth reached 16 M, and the proportion of optical networks to broadband users reached 70%. The proportion of 10 M and above of high bandwidth to domestic users also reached 70%. These two 70% marks that the broadband network in Shanghai has entered the era of optical network.

At the same time, Shanghai Telecom completed the basic full coverage of the urban area of urban light network one year ahead of schedule. According to the Shanghai smart city construction promotion plan for China () released by Shanghai, the optical fiber-to-household capacity covers more than 6.5 million households. Now, Shanghai Telecom has completed the plan one year ahead of schedule.

In terms of service, Shanghai Telecom took the lead in the country to pilot and fully implement the 48-hour installation. The 48-hour installation of optical networks is a challenge for Shanghai Telecom and a test of its previous Optical Fiber household work. It is reported that by the end of 2013, Shanghai Telecom plans to achieve breakthroughs in three aspects: Optical Network, bandwidth, and service.

In terms of optical network coverage, Shanghai Telecom plans to increase the coverage of optical networks by another 1 million, reaching 7.8 million, and the number of optical network users increased by 1 million, reaching 3.6 million.
