Microsoft did not lose twice in the starting line, but this time it was ugly to lose to MSN toolbar, not only to other tools, but also to itself.
MSN toolbar is not as easy as Google Toolbar at first, and earlier tool bar buttons do not even support XP theme! It is hard to believe that it was developed by Microsoft itself.
Tabbed Browsing seems to have become one of the most popular browser functions. As a response to Firefox, ie7.0 is also sure to provide this feature. By convention, this should be a very promising goal, some articles on the Microsoft Internet Explorer weblog occasionally mention some current implementation problems.
In fact, some third-party tools (such as WebTools) have provided multiple window browsing functions for IE. In addition to some minor problems, they are quite easy to use. The new version of MSN toolbar also provides this function. However, in my trial, I feel that it is better to write one by myself than WebTools.
At first, I thought that the tabbed browsing provided by MSN toolbar should be regarded as a "preview" for IE multi-window browsing, which may be unsatisfactory, however, Microsoft's requirements for ease-of-use products should be the same. However, this MSN toolbar is really amazing. Below I will list several questions about the MSN toolbar design:
- When switching the tab, the screen blinks and the instructor wants to drop the screen, in addition, the originally maximized window will become a "normal" window with a size close to the full screen size (developers should know that the full screen window size is different from the screen size, for example, the screen of X, the full screen window size is "(4,-4)-1028,772) 1032x776 ").
- When a custom toolbar button is used, there will be two separator lines between buttons (such an easy problem will also occur ??).
- The "options" dialog is non-modal (Are there other considerations ?).
- ">" (Chevron) is displayed when the button on the rightmost side is out of the display range of the window. The tool menu in the drop-down list is not a flat edge (the Chevron drop-down menu in IE tool bar is flat ), it is a thick panel that looks very poor.
The first one listed above is enough to exclude the MSN toolbar from the first stream, not to mention having all four problems. From my perspective, this is still a version that has just entered beta testing. I don't know what Microsoft thinks this time, but it was released.
